Welcome to the 2023 Kerths!

We are excited to begin this year’s round of nominations and challenges! This season we are hoping to include roughly 15 challenges or so in order to help us count down to the Kerths.

We are hoping to post two challenges per week on Wednesdays and Sundays! Your response can be either PG or Nfic. Make sure you include the challenge number when responding and anyone who would like to volunteer or suggest challenges please feel free to email or PM any member of KCOM and we will do our best to add it!

Kerth Challenge #1 - 824 Words

AnnaBtG challenged ksarasara to write a fic of exactly 824 words and while it took ksarasara some time to do it, the results of her efforts were more than worth it! So we thought we would challenge everyone here to write a fic that is exactly 824 words in length. Are YOU up to the challenge?

Kerth Challenge #2 - L&C Fairy Tale challenge

Remember the episode "Soul Mates"? Remember how much fun it was to see L&C as past versions of themselves like Robin Hood and Maid Marion? Now try to envision what they would be like in your favourite fairy tale such as Rapunzel or Cinderella and write an L&C story in the style of your favourite fairy tale!

Kerth Challenge #3 - “I’d Like to Pet Your Cat” challenge

Let's face it, we all love an adorable cat, dog or heck even Hamster! For this challenge, write a fic revolving around a pet. It could be a fic in which a pivotal moment happens because of, or involving a pet or just a cute story involving a pet.

Kerth Challenge #4 - One line challenge

Write a fic involving the following sentence: “Sometimes trying to do the right thing comes out all wrong.”

Kerth Challenge #5 - Crossover Fic Challenge

Write a fic involving the crossover of your favourite fandom or characters from another fandom.

Kerth Challenge #6 - A Day in the Life of…

Write a fic in which a supporting character is now the main character. What stories might be told from Jimmy, Perry, Cat or even a villain’s perspective?

Kerth Challenge #7 - Holiday Challenge

Why should Christmas fics get all the glory? Write a story which revolves around a holiday. It could be Christmas, New Years, hell even Lois’ favourite…Arbor day!

Kerth Challenge #8 - AU challenge

What kinds of alternate scenarios can you think of for Lois and Clark? Did they meet and fall in love as teenagers? Did Clark somehow grow up in Metropolis and Lois in Smallville? What if she were the one from Krypton? Try out an AU story of your own!

Kerth Challenge #9 - Meta challenge

Write a story in which the characters are aware they are in a fandom and can break the fourth wall and interact with the writers. What craziness might ensue?

Kerth Challenge #10 - KIDding Around Challenge

Someone at the Daily Planet goes in to work as usual and discovers that someone we all know has been inexplicably replaced by a small child.

Kerth Challenge #11 - WHOOPS! They Figured it out Challenge

Someone has discovered Clark’s secret identity, but it’s not who you’d think. And hey... this one has syntactical ambiguity—as in, it could be someone (like Ralph!) figuring out that Clark is Superman. But what if... it’s Clark’s secret identity that isn’t who we’d think? What if Clark was... Spiderman and Lois figures it out?
