Good Valar! Short, and extremely intense. I can see it all like it's right before me, and the fact that you cut it right there...right before...IT happens, is all the more powerful. Very effective. Amazing writing. I think I'm going to go curl up and read some FLUFF piece now...

Very nice, as usual. But angsty though it is, I am left with hope: there is no reason to assume that Tempus will succeed in shooting Lois when so many others have failed.

I, too, harbour the hope that Superman came back to save the day before it was too late. How long does it take to douse a few flames anyway? <g>

Didn't Tempus have a gun in Tempus Fugitive?

Either way Tempus probably forgot one teensy weensy thing; Lois knows Tae Kwando very well. Tempus will get cocky thinking about irony, Lois will kick the gun away, giving her enough time to either get the gun or call for Superman, and Tempus is defeated again.

Nevertheless, very well written.

I am getting to be a big fan of your vignettes. They are so lyrical. I love how well crafted they are. Love the repetition of "Know thy enemy." Love the mention of the sonic boom (a detail I adore from the movie heh). I also like getting in the head of a bad guy. Makes for interesting reading. Just great.

Two words: Time. Machine.

Now I'm going to spend the next few hours finding all sorts of ways to fix this in my head.

Well, he does have the element of surprise. OTOH, so did...whatsisname (I really have to brush up on my episodes) in IGYUMS and she took him out pretty fast when he was sneaking around in the house.

But...he didn't have a gun...

Would depend how big a drop he got on her before she realised he was there, I guess. If she spots him, he's dead meat.

I reckon Woody's right though. Tempus would get too cocky to sneak up on her, or shoot her through a window or whatever, before she had a chance to know he was there. He'd have to announce his presence and gloat for three hours, first.

Nah...either Lois or Superman would nail him long before he got around to the actual killing bit, I think.

Here's another solution:

Tempus pulls the trigger, fires the gun, and shoots Lois...

but the bullet bounces off.

He was unaware that Clark had had Dr. Klein set up something like Dr. Kelly did, and now Lois is invulnerable.

Glad you guys have it all figured out. Saves me having to write a sequel where Lois whups Tempus' butt ... or, you know... not.

Thanks so much for the feedback, everyone. I'm kinda stunned, really, seeing as how I wrote this in about five minutes after the idea popped into my head last night. I really appreciate it.

Reminds me of item #6 on the Evil Overlord list: "I will not gloat over my enemies' predicament before killing them."

Hmm... I think it would make for an awesomely funny (in a morbid kind of way) fic if Tempus got his hands on the Evil Overlord list and proceeded to implement it.
