Sorry for the little delay in posting this chapter. My son brought back a cold from the always wet and rainy Pacific Northwest and gave it to me. frown

I hope you guys enjoy, but I think it will only bring up more questions rather than answers at this point in the story. laugh

"You're better at this than I thought," she told him.
"At what?" Clark looked up at her quizzically.
"Dissembling."
"You didn't think I could lie?"

“Clark, sometimes I wonder what goes on in your head. Do you really think you’re so different from the rest of us?”
Oh, if Lois only knew! rotflol

"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

This story keeps getting better and better!

Clark opened the box. Inside he found a sheet of labels, dropper pipettes, micropipettes, nitrite gloves, sterile wipes, and an insulated box containing nine hermetically sealed test tubes. Also included was a handwritten note by Dr. Zeigler, the senior microbiologist on staff, whom Clark had talked to that morning. Dr. Zeigler had explained how to extract the samples, label, and store them. He noted that the samples would only last two hours without refrigeration, if stored in the box, making time a factor.
eek This is not our heroes usual breaking and entering equipment. This looks like a job for Dr. Megan Hunt or at the very least the guys from CDC!

“Great,” Lois grumbled, not wanting to hear about anything that would delay breaking the story. She knew Perry needed something big to put on the front page to lure readers back, and this story seemed to be on that track, but it wasn’t going to happen today. “Oh, I almost forgot, Perry wants to know what we’ve been working on. I guess now is as good a time as any to fill him in. He’s not going to be happy that we’ve just started on this and are far from going to print.”
I would have thought that getting a decent story on the front page, albeit a little late would make Perry quite happy. Aren't there other reporters on the DP's staff?

“I can’t believe I actually agreed to go to that, that, lame excuse for a party. What a waste of two hours,” Lois said as she stormed through Clark’s front door, hastily removing her heels before descending his steps. “And did you have to dance with her so much and leave me just standing at the bar by myself?”
Temper, temper Lois, remember Linda is not the bad guy... at least not right now. I like the way this episode works seamless with your story.

I look forward to the next installment! wave

I like seeing someone besides Dr. Klein. It never really made sense to have one person at Star Labs be the go to guy for everything and all conditions, but I guess it happens because it makes stories simpler, and because Klein is such a fun character.

So if Clark danced 2 dances with Linda, how many did he dance with Lois?

Thanks everyone for feedback.

Annie- Sometimes I think that even if Lois knew, she would still be able to convince him that his childhood wasn't all that different from any other orphaned baby.

This is definitely not their usual B&E equipment, but since they have some idea of what they're looking for, they should be properly prepared.

I think Perry's always happy with a good front pager, but at this time they're under a lot of pressure to compete with the STAR who are getting the best stories.

John- I agree that it makes it simpler for the script to have Dr. Klein do everything, but in reality it's not possible for him to cover every research department at STAR Labs. I thought bringing in a specialist would make more sense, plus Dr. Klein didn't appear until the third season and this is still the first.
