Just a little bit of nothing that came out of nowhere - I started typing and when I looked this is what had been written. Think of it what you will.

Lois stood in front of her living room window, watching as snowflakes slowly drifted down from the sky, covering everything below in a white, fluffy, winter blanket. Multi-colored decorative lights hung around windows and balcony railings shone brightly in the night, creating a festive decor, just in time for Santa.

There was something special, almost magical, about the first snowfall of the season, especially when it happened on Christmas Eve.

Christmas itself wasn't all that special to Lois however, and once again this year she found herself alone in her small apartment, just as midnight was about to strike. It wasn't anything new, really, though she'd never quite gotten used to it at all. She'd hoped that this year perhaps might be different, but there were some things in her life that just never seemed to change.

A chilly gust of wind blew in through an open window, a few steps away from where she stood, causing her to shiver a little. Though it rarely, if ever, served to let anyone in anymore, Lois still kept that particular window slightly opened at all times. Just in case...

And perhaps it was because tonight was Christmas, or maybe it had something to do with the magic of that first snowfall, but for once the gust of wind materialized into a very solid shape. Two strong arms wrapped themselves around Lois, enveloping her in a silky red embrace.

"Merry Christmas, Lois," said the deep, familiar voice behind her.

Lois tugged on the ends of the cape, closing the small gap between both edges, and as she let her head fall back against his shoulder she whispered, "Merry Christmas, Clark."

End.

Happy holidays!
