Thank you! Saw your reply in the fdk thread and had to keep refreshing my screen until Chapter 6 appeared.

Loved it! Sad ending but it followed from the events of the story, and it ended on an upbeat note. And I love your writing, especially the way you used the mention of Mars and the line about the mother's prerogative to make it clear that this was the next generation.

I need to go back and check--was Lois's right hand the one she lost? The one she used to take notes and type? That would be especially hard for a reporter to recover from. I would like some insight into whether she ever went back to the Planet, but I guess that's part of what you decided to leave open.

Wow...intense. I liked how (or did I not like? Not sure, but it fit the fic) the fact that bringing down the false Superman was not without cost. People lost their lives, and Clark and Lois paid their own prices.

Probably a good thing that it took 25 years for the new Superman to come along - it would take that long for people to accept him, as you detailed in the fic. The Bizarro Superman really trashed the real Superman's reputation.

A very thought-provoking fic. Well done.

Yeah, great fic especially when taken into context.

Your writing was great and you portrayed the characters well.

I also liked the open ending - it left many possibilities smile

Marvelous, Dandello. I, too, was sad that both Clark and Lois suffered permanent injuries because of the clone, but fighting for justice sometimes means the good guys get hurt. It's too bad Superman had to retire, but Clark should be able to derive some satisfaction from his children's heroic personas. I only hope Laura doesn't become Supergirl. That always sounded derivative and juvenile to me, even when I was very young and didn't know what those words meant.

It doesn't matter which hand Lois lost. She typed with both, and even though she writes with her right she holds the pad with her left, so it's a handicap either way. I think it's significant that both Clark and Lois worked together to overcome their crippling injuries and become productive citizens and proud parents. It speaks volumes for their character, both individually and collectively.

Gritty and realistic, this is a compelling alternative look at how technology (the clone) can backfire on us. Once again we see the lesson of Mary Shelley: just because we can do something, it doesn't mean that we should. Great story, and there should be a Kerth nomination in its future.

Good story!! Especially loved the ending! thumbsup

If she had to move heaven and Earth, perhaps come back to haunt Perry and explain the story after they'd killed her, she would do it.

It was a fitting ending, Dandello. But also bitter-sweet sad

And now you're going to take care of blond Ken and rabid... erm blonde... Barbie?
