Good morning Dave. Another superbly well written short fic by you.
Loved it. Loved the fact that no one died too. Whew! I can relax now. Ha ha.
You made me realize in a wonderful variety of emotions how that terrible day had really made Clark feel. We (well me anyway) always think he is invulnerable and just bounces back from things like that. But your soul searching writing allows us a glimpse into the pain he is really feeling.
I loved your description of the barn. How it almost looked the same, but didn't. The description of the broken glass and sunlight coming through the hole. Beautiful.

Beautiful, Dave! Until she turned him away, pressed his face into her shoulder and held him to her. I liked the subtle, almost reflex but very telling actions of the two of them - Clark, who doesn't kill, watching the man die, and Lois, who doesn't do tender, turning him away from the sight. Her friend. Her friend who'd almost died. I love seeing this scene from Lois's point of view. "Okay," she said, and she hoped she'd be enough. Ah, if she only knew... 'Small Prickly Woman Single-Handedly Saves -Figuratively Speaking - the World's Superhero. Again.' I liked this small piece immensely. And it set the stage so nicely for a potentially longer piece or two. So how about it, Dave? Care to continue the idea? Please? ~Toc

Dave... Dave, Dave, Dave... you know I love this!! Another GGGOH story from you and... YAY!!! And I realize I've read it a few times already, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it over and over again every time or let you know very publicly that I *love* it!!! RIGHT???  This is so rich with your trademark style (that being just any style that is completely awing, saying so much with such few words, words that are layered in SO many more meanings that just the literal...) The man who'd tried to shoot him in the back... kill him... because of who he was...
What he was.
He watched over the shoulder that suddenly appeared as her arms closed around him.
Watched the man's face slowly disappear into the pond.
Watched until the ripples faded.
Watched until he was shaking so hard he could barely see. ... just... ) And, of course... "Are you okay?" she asked, her voice quiet.
"No," he whispered, his voice heavy. He was watching her when she looked up, his dark eyes etched with sorrow. She held them for a second before she looked away.
If she could read the grief in his eyes, could he read the fear in hers? ... I had to quote something from Lois's POV... you *know* how I feel about Lois's POV here!! And this... it is amazing... I just love that her feelings are surfacing so quickly in the aftermath of such a dramatic moment, too. She cares for him a lot more than either of them would have thought, and it's just... uhh... ) NICOLE ps - happy birthdy Sorcha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhh, I really liked this. Depth of emotion--there's more to Lois Lane than first thought, and I love it when fics reveal that. My favorite line is probably the very last one. Lovely ending.
Don't point. You make holes in the air and the faeries escape.

Dave, this is ... gah, I don't even have words for what this vignette is. Amazing. Haunting. Layered. Wonderful. Heart-rending. I've always love love loved the lyrics to Nickelback's "Hero" — you've incorporated my favorite lines flawlessly to start things off. And this line, in particular, just got me right *there*: He watched until he couldn't, and then buried himself in her arms and let himself cry. That's perfect. *Perfect.* What a telling sentence — you show us Clark in a completely unguarded moment, and Lois is there to save him from himself. Again, I'm at a loss for proper FDK. Just ... *loves* Thanks for sharing this, Dave.
