“When did secrets stop being fun?”

“What do you mean?”

“When we were kids, secrets were fun. Things like knowing what we were giving others for Christmas, or knowing Superman’s secret identity. Now secrets are either boring – like corporate secrets – or shameful, like what we just learned about that politician.”

“We were lucky; some kids keep secrets about familial addiction or abuse; those are hardly fun.”

“True, but I am not talking about them; I’m talking about us. We grew up in a functional home. So when did our secrets stop being fun?”

“I can’t tell you. It’s a secret.”
