Suppose that means I no longer owe you $5!! wink dance

Hi Penny_Lane,

I love the twist you put on it to get out of owing the narrator money.

This is another instance where the narrator definitely isn’t me… I’m neither a jerk (I hope) nor (alas) as spontaneously creative as the narrator. Hmmm… So you lose the bet you made with me. Does that mean you don’t owe the narrator any money, but now you owe me some? wink

I'll give you the 5$ as soon as I get the ice cream my former senior physicians still owe me. (Which in all likelyhood may never happen) Talk about jerks -the two of them made a bet whether I'd be able to organize an MRI for a patient with a pacemaker. Usually, that's not possible. But the pacemaker was suitable for MRI, the only problem was that our hospital had no monitoring equipment for MRIs. It took me a week to make it happen. But *I* didn't get any ice cream wildguy. Lesson learned, I suppose.
Fotunately, that wasn't their usual way of treating people. grin

Just in case you were wondering, I liked your short story wave

Hi Barbara,

With the story you just told me, I’d say we’re even. wink

I’ve never liked the idea of two (or more) people betting on the actions of anyone they know personally. In my mind, it somehow diminishes their views on the third party — reducing an entire person down to a single “Will they do X,” and thereby dehumanizing them. I’m glad to hear that that isn’t the way those two doctors typically operate (no pun intended). And take pleasure in knowing that the real winner was the patient who was able to get the MRI thanks to your efforts.

Incidentally, I actually think both characters in my story are being rather jerky.

Thanks for the feedback.

Joy,
Lynn
