Hi everybody, new member here. I’ve been looking around on this forum for a while and I love what a friendly and civil community I see. So I’m really happy to have the opportunity to be a part of it. Thank you so much for helping me with my registration trouble, Annette! smile

I fell in love with Lois and Clark when I watched in in January/February this year. The emotional energy between the protagonists drew me in, and I loved the banter as well. I feel like the quality of the show went downhill as the seasons progressed, and that there’s wasted potential, but that doesn’t stop me from enjoying the parts I do like. My heart will never completely abandon a piece of fiction if I become attached to the characters in it.

I think I’m going to have lots of fun here. I’m so excited!!! laugh I hope to contribute to creating fun and fascinating conversations and ideas. I’m not promising to write any fanfic, but I think I would like to try to at some point.

Do I have a strange username? I suppose plenty of people do. “Buistybump” is a word I made up as a kid. What does it mean? Is it a big bump in a rug? Is it to give someone a huge boost into the air? I don’t know. goofy

Hi Buistybump,

Welcome. smile We always like to have new additions to our family, so to speak. This is an excellent place to try your hand at writing fanfic; you'll not meet a more supportive group of readers.

Out of curiosity, how is your moniker pronounced?

Joy,
Lynn

Nice to meet you, Buisty! Welcome to the boards. We have a great little internet family here, as you'll be sure to see as you poke around. Looking forward to seeing your work, if you get the urge to write!

Welcome, Buistybump. To echo the previous members, do feel free to comment on any story that captures your fancy. And as long as you're polite, you can even tell the author that you don't like the story, hopefully with reasons why. But I hope you like the bulk of what's presented here.

Do you know about the archive? If not, just click on the highlighted word to the left and you'll see over four thousand stories of varying length, from a single to multi-part epic tales, from the lightest romantic banter to the deepest and darkest levels of human pain, and were I a gambler I'd lay nickels to noodles you'll enjoy over ninety percent of what you find.

One of the neat ways to explore the archive is to go to the bottom of the first page and click on the Random Link. I have found so many gems that way - authors I've not met online, stories from the very early days, and tales that were never on the message boards, not to mention old favorites I'd all but forgotten. I've been a member here for a long time and I haven't hit bottom yet.

Have fun! That's what we're here for.

Welcome aboard, Buistybump! We would love to read your comments! wave

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

Most people use DC on here. You'll see some people using my RL name (Vicki) too.

Just to tack on to what Terry said, we also just hosted our annual fanfic awards ceremony, The Kerth Awards, (named for the journalism awards in the show). If you check out some of the Kerth announcement links, you can click on the stories listed and it'll take you to the
archive link for them. (All stories are from the previous year.)

But yes! To tack onto what everyone has said here we (the KCOMM) put together a ceremony each year for the Kerths that celebrates the stories recognized each year.

Below are some for the last Four years

Nominees 2017 | Winners 2017
Nominees 2018 | Winners 2018
Nominees 2019 | Winners 2019
Nominees 2020 | Winners 2020

Aaaaaaah... I forgot to mention that before I poked around on the message boards for a while, I poked around on the archive for a while. goofy whistle You guys are being so nice and helpful, I feel kinda silly for not thinking to mention that.
When I came across the archive I was amazed and impressed by the quality. If I clicked on a story, chances were it'd be at least halfway decent. That's a huge contrast to fanfic for other fandoms that I've read on fanfiction.com and archiveofourown.org -- where slogging through mud to find rare diamonds feels like an apt analogy.

I've not done that before, so I'll try that. Thanks for the tip! grin

Oooh, nicknames of evilness are such fun. I have an evil twin whose ego is bigger than the sun and she goes by "Her Imperial Royal Majesty, The Lady Queen Buistybump III." My therapist has some crazy idea that the evil twin is actually me and I have some kind of personality disorder, but that's that most ridiculous thing I've ever heard.

So, DC has a new name, eh? Very interesting...

I used to tell my grandkids to call me Grandfather because no one would call me High Commander. At my older son's wedding a decade or so past, the bride coerced a couple of the pre-teen girls there to call me High Commander. Made my day until they laughed like it was the funniest joke of all time.

Don't you mean:

Reads better to me, anyway.

Welcome Buistybump! It's good to see that the series is still inspiring new members.

CLARK: No. I'm just worried I'm a jinx.
JONATHAN: A jinx?
CLARK: Yeah. Let's face it, ever since she's known me, Lois's been kidnapped, frozen, pushed off buildings, almost stabbed, poisoned, buried alive and who knows what else, and it's all because of me.
-"Contact" (You're not her jinx, you're her blessing.)
