Haha, very cute! It figures with Lois that she'd pretty much immediately abandon her resolve not to write about the men in her life. I envision her sitting cross-legged on her couch, hair up in a messy pony tail, in sweats/pajamas (because, um, PJs!), shoveling ice cream straight from the carton into her mouth as she writes.
Very much hoping this gets picked up - by you or anyone!

Delightful story! Had me laughing, too. That is so Lois that she would make a vow like that and then a week later violate it.

Hi JellyS2, that you wish more entries is high praise indeed. If my muse cooperates, rest assured I will post more. But if anyone else wishes to add entries, by all means do so. DC, I love the image you have conjured. Cuidadora, A week? I thought she broke the vow in her very first entry. (I've always been a sucker for preterition...) If I were smart, I’d say, ‘To hell with them,’ and just throw myself completely into my work, the way I had done before I ever met them. If I were smart, I’d become ‘Mad Dog Lane’ once again. If I were smart, I wouldn’t let anyone get close to me. If they don’t get close, they can’t hurt me. I should just focus on getting that Pulitzer. Nope, don't become Mad Dog Lane again! That's taking a giant step backwards and away from a certain reporter from the Midwest. But I would suggest working on getting that Pulitzer... Lois Personal Journal is very interesting indeed. Lynn, could you try to write a few more entries?

Hi Morgana, Thank you for your kind words. When I had last tried to write more in this vein, it seemed to become a bit repetitive and I had a strong feeling of diminishing returns. I had actually started to write one additional journal entry before throwing in the towel. And as it happens, it actually relates to what you had quoted. I had edited it out of the original post, but for what it is worth, here it is: I wrote earlier that if I were smart, I wouldn't let anyone get close to me and that I would just focus on getting the Pulitzer. I've thought long and hard about that and have decided that I was wrong. I wrote, "If I were smart, I wouldn’t let anyone get close to me. If they don’t get close, they can’t hurt me." But now I recognize that if I don't let them get close, they can’t touch my soul. I wrote, "I should just focus on getting that Pulitzer." But now I have realized that if I get the Pulitzer and have no one to share my joy with, it would just be a Pyrrhic victory. Joy, Lynn
