I recently thought about this: What if, after Nightfall, the Suit wasn't burned in the atmosphere - and, so, not Clark was found, but instead Superman. Who would try to restore his powers? Will he find out who he really is? What will Lois do? Will Martha and Jonathan convice him that he's their son?

Not exactly what you're looking for, but I highly recommend Nan Smith's Dagger of the Mind. It covers many of the things that might have occurred in your challenge and is the first story in her excellent Dagger Series.

In some ways I'll cover an aspect of this in my fic, because I too have wondered about what would happen if Superman had been the one who needed help and not exactly Clark.....
