I think I remember that now! A bit more thorough than Clark's glasses and wild ties!

Thank you! You know, I almost wrote in Lois as a contestant, but since it would have made the fic way too long for a response for a 5 year old to hear, I opted not to do it. But I was so sorely tempted!

I thought Lois was going to be there as a Judge as a celebrity expert on Superman. Actually working for the Planet, but keeping it under wraps from Clark to avoid being teased.

Then again, it took a few minutes before I realized who "Chris" was. Doh!

Ooh, a judge would have been delightfully evil! devil

Honestly, I wasn't sure anyone would even catch the Chris reference. Glad you got it though! smile

Delightful! I really liked the story, and the cameos (Chris, Dean) were really fun.

I have a question, though.
Isn't it strange that Murray imagine Superman as a teenage fanboy? After all, SM comes from a wholly different culture, or so Murray may believe.
Or does Superman's apparent understanding of Earth culture lead him to that question? (After all, in the series, no one ever questioned Superman's ability to understand specific details of American life.)

Quote
"Nah," Murray said, waving his hand before his face, as if shooing the notion away. "It's all perfectly normal fanboy stuff. Or fangirl," he amended as two lanky blondes in Superman logo crop top shirts walked by, giggling together. He let out a low whistle, then brought his attention back to Clark. "Weren't you ever a kid? Didn't you worship the guys like...I dunno. The Lone Ranger or Luke Skywalker?"

Clark is so comfortable with Earth culture that it's easy to picture him as a little kid. Even if he didn't grow up on Earth, it's always possible that Krypton was so close to life on Earth. Makes it easy to picture all the little Kryptonian kids sitting on the couch, glued to their favorite TV shows. smile

I'm sorry I haven't commented on this story yet! I've tried and tried to get my son to sit for the story, but haven't been able to get him to. I think he's on to other things, I guess.

As I was reading this story I was thinking back to the Superman Celebration that I'd been to a few times. I never get around to the costume contest part, but I could see that being very similar. It was adorable to imagine my son in a Superman costume (although he's much more of a Batman fan, no matter how I try).

CLARK: No. I'm just worried I'm a jinx.
JONATHAN: A jinx?
CLARK: Yeah. Let's face it, ever since she's known me, Lois's been kidnapped, frozen, pushed off buildings, almost stabbed, poisoned, buried alive and who knows what else, and it's all because of me.

No worries, Christina! I know how busy RL can get with little ones! Don't worry about your son sitting for the story. I wondered if it might be a little over his head with the idea of a convention. And kids certainly are fickle with their likes and dislikes.

A Superman Celebration sounds like such fun! I've actually never made it to any costume contests at any of the cons I've been at, but I've always liked seeing people dressed up walking around.

I know what you mean about having a kid into Batman. My Ashley likes Batman/Batgirl (I think mainly because the clothing usually is in purple tones, and purple is her favorite). And Kayla likes Superman/Supergirl (mostly, I think, because of pink association, and pink is her favorite. (Also, my husband is a Batman fan, and I'm a Superman fan, so they have both kind of picked a hero that we like.) Both like Wonder Woman too.

Hi Vicki! All caught up now!

Um, you never go overboard with feedback. I enjoy every last bit of it. Definitely gives me some much needed giggles during my day.

Oh no! We're going to need another Lois!
They probably have to mass-produce them in a vat somewhere.

Bad? No. Hilarious? You betcha. I wouldn't mind reading a scenario like that!

Are all those pills adding to the overall numbers of kids being left at said orphanage? Because mecry
Sadly, yes. Hence the charity.

No one can ever get ahold of Barry. Hal cried when he saw the yellow paint in the break room. And don't get me started on Orin. Guy seems a bit fishy to me.

Barry: Um, I quit?
It’s sooo hard to get good help these days.

Nah. You're thinking of April O'Neil. She has a habit of hanging out with those who aren't quite totally human.

Wouldn't that hurt to swallow?

I don't think so. It shouldn't be that different from the rhombus shape. Just a bit more asymmetrical.

I *do* know better. But I'm a feedback junkie and if I see there is some, I need my fix ASAP.

This was a fun story!

When Superman was asked to be a judge in the costume contest, I pictured him walking over to the judges' seats and one of them saying, "The contestants are supposed to line up over there, sir." When he'd insist that he's actually Superman, they would assume he was just getting belligerent, so he'd raise his eyebrow them and give them an are you kidding me look before floating a foot in the air. Then the judges would scramble to show him to his seat, but he'd privately doubt that they were actually qualified to judge the contest.

At next year's convention, Clark should walk around in plainclothes with Lois and get her take on it. Maybe she could convince him to dress up. wink

Actually, that reminds me of a '60s comic where Clark went as Superman for Halloween. I don't remember why. He wore his glasses and Clark hairdo, and I think he made a new suit that was slightly too big so that he wouldn't fill it out right. The slight visual changes, combined with acting like a wimp, made sure that no one figured out that he's actually Superman.

"It is a remarkable dichotomy. In many ways, Clark is the most human of us all. Then...he shoots fire from the skies, and it is difficult not to think of him as a god. And how fortunate we all are that it does not occur to him." -Batman (in Superman/Batman #3 by Jeph Loeb)

Glad you liked it! It would have been fun to make them not believe him. And I can only imagine how fangirly Lois would have been at such a convention! smile
