So I've been reading a few books on Superman as a pop culture symbol or as modern mythology, and I was wondering if anyone else had read them and/or knew of other good ones to try? I don't like reading them if they're written by obvious detractors of Superman, but the ones that are written by people who like or are intrigued by Superman are what I'm looking for.

So far I've read: The Man From Krypton: A Closer Look At Superman, edited by Glenn Yeffeth -- this one had some really insightful essays. My favorite was The Mirror Of Gilgamesh: The Foe Superman Fears The Most And The Ally He Can't Do Without.

And: Superman: The Unauthorized Biography by Glen Weldon -- very informative and interesting!

If you're a fan of Superman and haven't read these, I highly recommend them. Does anyone know of some others I could look into?
