Ellen was startled by a voice behind her, “Somebody here call for a cab?” After she spoke, she became concerned thinking that her parents might recognize her voice. She sent, /”Maybe you should do all of the talking.”/ Good thinking, Lois, especially when you're behind her and so she's not confused by the visual of Ultra Woman. Lois stepped over and gave her mom a hug, “It’s all Clark’s influence. He’s been good for me. The best person to come into my life.”
Ellen returned the hug and said, “That is obvious. You work well together.” Looking around, Ellen noted that they were the only four in the room. In a conspiratorial tone, Ellen whispered, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
Lois was shocked, and blurted out, “Tell you? Tell you what?”
She held Lois at arm’s length and said, “Lois Olive Lane, or should I say, Ultra Woman, I recognized your voice when you spoke in the hospital. Did you think I wouldn’t recognize my own daughter’s voice?”
Lois gave Clark a crestfallen look as she said, “I was afraid of that. I didn’t think of that until after I spoke.”
“The silence was also obvious, so when were you going to tell us?” You can fool some of the people some of the time, you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool Mom.
"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad." "How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice. "You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

Hi Annie, Thanks for the FDK! Ellen was startled by a voice behind her, “Somebody here call for a cab?” After she spoke, she became concerned thinking that her parents might recognize her voice. “The silence was also obvious, so when were you going to tell us?” You can fool some of the people some of the time, you can fool some of the people all of the time, but you can't fool Mom. Ain't it the truth. The complete quote from P. T. Barnum is - "You can fool some of the people all of the time; you can fool all of the people some of the time, but you can never fool all of the people all of the time."

Hi Morgana, Thanks for the FDK! She held Lois at arm’s length and said, “Lois Olive Lane, or should I say, Ultra Woman, I recognized your voice when you spoke in the hospital. Did you think I wouldn’t recognize my own daughter’s voice?” Busted! Yeah, I thought Sam and Ellen would recognize their daughter's voice. If she hadn't been behind Ellen when she spoke, it might have been a different story. As it was, not seeing the individual in costume and the mask through the eye slit there was no distraction.
