Such sad news today that Terry Pratchett has finally lost his battle with Alzheimers.

RIP, Terry. Thanks for all the fun and laughs you brought into my life. Nobby and the Watch will raise a glass tonight.

Athos: If you'd told us what you were doing, we might have been able to plan this properly.
Aramis: Yes, sorry.
Athos: No, no, by all means, let's keep things suicidal.

Just heard. This is a real bastard because we were what I'd call casual friends for many years - not really close, but he knew of me via SF conventions and my game writing, and there was a time when we were talking a couple of times a week and bouncing plot ideas off each other, but we drifted apart gradually as the commitments on his time grew. I haven't seen him for two years or so, it's a sod to think I never will again.

Neil Gaiman's thoughts here:

WAY too young.

Alzheimer's sucks at any age, but especially in someone so young.

"Oh, you can’t help that," said the Cat: "we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad."
"How do you know I’m mad?" said Alice.
"You must be," said the Cat, "or you wouldn’t have come here.”
