This idea popped into my head yesterday and wouldn't let me work on anything else until it was completed. Please let me know if you enjoyed it.

Very fluffy, very pretty, very nice. I really enjoyed it.

So, when can we expect the followup on their first anniversary? wink

When I saw it in the e-mail about the new story I immediately assumed it was the story you won the Beta'ing from Wendy. It seemed the right type of story and around the correct time frame as to when you would get done. Anyway, as you would probably expect, I loved it and I STILL have the story you will work with Wendy on to look forward to... The ending twist was perfect and the Lois thought process was just about perfect (How big the headline would determine if she truly loved him).

I am torn because as with groobie I would really like a nice sequel but on the other hand leaving it with us to determine how it works out is nice also. At least this Lois does not fear intimacy like the canon Lois did, she went to the love word pretty quickly and easily here.

Thank you all for the wonderful comments. smile1

DebbieG, groobie, and Seme: Thank you for your interest. I have some thoughts regarding a sequel or a series of shorts, but right now I'm trying not to be distracted from my Wrong Clark monster epic. It might be several months before I can come back to this one, or if I can ever get it to work out the way I picture this universe in my head.

Mike: peep Yes, my infamous UW story. That one currently falls into my "if I can ever get it to work" pile. I've got the first two parts completed, but I can't get the ending right, so it will be a while before it will be posted. I do have coming up my Auction Story I wrote for KatherineKent (which she has read and approved of), which hopefully I'll post before the end of the month. shock Is it already the 11th? My, how time flies. blush

I'm glad you loved it, Mike. One of these days I'll have to write a story with no twist as a twist just to blow your mind away. [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

Do you mean when she leaned forward and suggested that she had already fallen in love with him? Even if that were true, and I'm not saying it isn't, she was just baiting him to get him to tell her what she wanted to know. Part of the reason she didn't leave when he told her he was a reporter was that he had challenged her to stay and make it work. Same at the end. Is Lois attracted to him? Yes. Does she want another date? Yes. Is she in love? She wouldn't admit it to herself, let alone him, if she was. Is part of the reason she's so interested because he's made her curious? Most definitely. She loves challenges and mysteries, and he's offered himself up as both.

Thank you all again for reading my story and for your kind comments begging for more.

I, too, enjoyed this story immensely. And I'd totally love to read about what has happened to Dan and Mayson. Or how everybody tells the people who set up the blind dates how things went wrong, ah, right, I mean, kind of wrong yet right. Right? smile

Right. So, Lois and Clark may not care what happened to Mayson and Dan, but you do? [Linked Image] Well, I had a couple of different possibilities for back stories on the mix up.

A) Lois was late. Clark was on time. So, what if Dan was on time and Mayson was early? They meet up and while they're talking in another part of the bar, Clark and Lois arrive and leave without being spotted by their true dates.

B) There was a mix-up regarding the name of the bar. A "Central Park" vs. "Central Perk" (from Friends) type thing. Both Dan and Clark are new to Metropolis and they arrive at the wrong locale. But I couldn't come up with a good mix up bar name, so I left what happened to Mayson and Dan vague.

I hope you don't mind. peep

What did the setter-uppers think? Lucy and Clark's lawyer friend are both just happy that they found someone they like. Isn't that the most important thing about a blind date? wink

Thank you for reading.

You really threw me when Clark called her Mayson. I thought it was one of those bait-and-switch stories where at the end you find out that the character isn't who you think it is, and I was about to go back through the story and figure out how I could have missed that. I love how it ended, though. I wonder how long it took Mayson and Dan to figure out that they weren't each other's intended dates and whether they hit it off regardless?

This was definitely a fun read. smile

Yes, I worked hard at having only "she" when it was Clark's POV and only "he" when it was Lois's POV, and not have them say each other's names the whole evening long. In the first draft, I mentioned Mayson's and Dan's names in the opening scenes, but then decided it would be more fun to have it be a surprise.

I believe it is popular fandon to have Mayson and Dan set up together (had she only survived). I know I've used it. whistle

Thank you for reading and commenting.

Description: A man walks into a bar to meet a blind date.
Oooooh! I know this one! Is it the one where Dr. Lite blinded Lois instead of Superman?

Quote
I whipped up this unbeta’d bit of fluff yesterday and couldn’t wait to share it.
hyper Also…where do you take to time from grumble

Quote
He was told to look for the woman with the red carnation. It was tacky, horribly tacky, but true.
Hey, it could have been worse. She could be wearing a Superman pin.

Quote
He didn’t even know why he accepted.

That was a lie. Clark knew.
He looks good enough to score on the first date?

Quote
He had one friend in Metropolis. An old friend from his time in Tibet.
[Linked Image] And he set his good buddy up with one of the nice reporter ladies who are after his alter ego?
BATMAN: razz I’m the alter ego. She was after *Bruce*!

Quote
the boatload of refugees that had crashed into the Hob’s River docks and were now in holding cells.
Held for destruction of property?

Quote
How bad did your life had to be when a holding cell was better than what you had left back home?
REFUGEE: No slave labor. We get food we don’t have to catch ourselves. No whippings so the guards can place bets on which one of us dies first.

Quote
His friend knew of a woman who would be perfect for Clark, a real truth and justice type.
So, not Linda then?
LOIS: hyper
Hmm…Mayson?
LOIS: razz

Quote
She had a busy career, apparently, which meant that she didn’t have much time for dating either.
LOIS: I don’t date. It’s an archaic concept invented to make women feel they need a man to have succeeded. [Linked Image]: Do you need help with that bomb, Ms. Lane?

Quote
He doubted anyone could be perfect, let alone perfect for Clark.
DIANA PRINCE: wave

Quote
Did he really want perfect, anyway?
LOIS: wave

Quote
Suddenly, she dropped the carnation on the bar and slammed her hand down upon it. Turning away from both the smashed flower and the bar, the woman went to storm out of the room.
Did he wait too long? Did Lois decide she doesn’t want a quick tumble in the hay after all?

Quote
Her brunette bob swayed with her movement, fanning her face and revealing it strand of hair by strand of hair.
No. Way. It really *is* Lois! thud
.
.
.
wink

Quote
She appeared both exceedingly annoyed and the most alluring woman Clark had ever seen.
Well, an annoyed Lois is like Cat-nip to a Clark.

Quote
His friend had been wrong. She was imperfect.
LOIS: What? mad

Quote
But Clark suspected she might be perfect for him.
Awwwww…

Quote
But she had promised her sister she would go on one date that wasn’t an interview.
Huh? Wait. *Two* dates with red carnations?

Quote
God. How was she supposed to get to know a man if she didn’t ask him a thousand questions to see what he was hiding?
By following him and planting bugs in his apartment, like any normal person would do?
LEX: The ER thinks I’m normal razz

Quote
He was new in town, the friend of the brother of a friend of a friend of a friend of her sister’s.
Hmm… so, it really was Lois who was set up with Clark?

Quote
It had taken Lucy four degrees of separation, or was it six, to find someone willing to date her sister.
And yet, Lucy hadn’t managed Mel Gibson.

Quote
His sense of style was rumored to be somewhat out there, but he believed in truth and he was terribly romantic.
Good thing they didn’t mention the job-speficics.

Quote
The carnations had been his idea. That should have been a red flag.
Huh. She thinks it had been Clark’s idea? Different setup after all? Or just a miscommunication?

Quote
If she were unlucky, her boss would be bailing her out of jail for assault, again.
[Linked Image] ?

Quote
Okay. Lois might have arrived a little late herself, but her source had called and told her that he had lied about some aspect of the information he had given to her.
Huh. Her original date already left?

Quote
Typical male. Always lying about something.
But why come clean in the end?

Quote
Normally, Lois would have stomped out of the bar, leaving the man and the carnation in her dust, but there was something open and honest about his expression, which made Lois pause.
Plus, he’d look good naked?

Quote
What was one drink, anyway?
ELLEN: That’s what I always say!

Quote
“I didn’t think you would show.”

He had been on time to the bar,
Hmm…I think he’d punctually enough and Lois managed to stand up her original date.
LEX: I’ll never take matchmaking again from my attorney. He’s so fried (sic).

Quote
if you don’t mind walking.”
What if they got mugged?
CLARK: How likely would it be that we get mugged…?
LOIS: wave

Quote
He would try to keep his feet on the ground.
Maybe some string tied to his foot?

Quote
“I have an interview with the Metropolis Star the day after tomorrow,” he said.
They say it’s the best paper in town.
LOIS: razz Good bye, jerk!
CLARK: confused

Quote
“Perhaps, over time, I will make it into less of a rag,” he said.
rotflol

Quote
“I hear that’s a good place to work. I wanted to interview with Perry White, but he isn’t hiring and when he is it’s all about who you know to get a word with him,”
One month later…
LOIS: Perry, I have had to up to here with my boyfriend getting there first. You either hire Clark or I move to Gotham!

Quote
Clark said with a frown. “I apparently don’t know the right people.”

She eyed him suspiciously. “I don’t do favors for strangers.”
Maybe if he put out first?

Quote
He grinned. “You agreed to go on a date with me. So, I guess I owe you one.”
Did he just offer to recompense her for her time during an amorous outing?

Quote
“I don’t date other reporters, either,” she stated.
So, she’s fine with the offer or compensation but averse to reporters?

Quote
That made him pause for a split second, and then he said, “I agree. Dating within our profession would be a challenge.”
And Lois Lane always does (sic) a challenge.

Quote
Her eyes flashed to his. “Reporters would lie, steal, and turn in their jaywalking mother for a story.”
LOIS: *check*. *check*. *check*.

Quote
he said instead, “Does that description include you?”
He likes to live precariously, doesn’t he?

Quote
She smiled. “I don’t know about that, but most of the crime in Metropolis is fresher.” She winced at her pun. “I didn’t mean…”
HOODLUM: Yo! Your purses. And the watches. Hmm…And I’ll take the dame for a spin, too.

Quote
He laughed. “Yes, but Metropolis has the sunshine. I hear Gotham City can suck the soul right out of a man.”
BATMAN: That’s a nasty rumor the Joker spread about me.

Quote
“Metropolis has the same problem,” she admitted. “Luckily, though, I’m a woman.”
rotflol

Quote
“I was raised on a farm, yes, but I haven’t been a boy in over ten years,” he said, giving her a knowing look.
LOIS: So…he lost his boyhood to a highschool sweetheart, probably the local dairy queen or somesort and been a player ever since.

Quote
“They do speak English here. You didn’t need to order in Chinese to impress me.”
No, he ordered Chinese to make sure they held on the mystery meat.

Quote
“That must come in handy,” she said.
Still doesn’t help him understanding the fairer sex, though.

Quote
, she thought to herself how she wished she could carry him around in her pocket to use on some of her stories.
shock She…she…likes to have a little Clark handy for when she has needs?

Quote
When she looked back at her date, his expression seemed momentarily stunned
Because she second-screened him during their first date?

Quote
She knew that she mumbled to herself sometimes, but she didn’t think she did it loud enough for anyone else to hear.
Oops?

Quote
“I like to give them the benefit of the doubt,” he said.
shock A *politician*? Next he’ll believe an armed robber that he’s just doing a charity collection at the bank foyer.

Quote
Politicians are human and they can make mistakes too.”
POLITICAN: I didn’t know taking money and doing what the money-giver asked for was illegal! Honestly.

Quote
The waiter returned and placed a couple of teapots and an order of spring rolls on the table.
Traditional ones with locusts inside?

Quote
It was too bad he was a naïve fool, though. That smile he had just given her as if he were laughing at some inside joke meant that he was hiding something.
confused Naïve but hiding something?

Quote
“Yes, but with you, it’s two degrees hotter than that,” he replied, taking a sip of his water.
rotflol Did he just call her two degrees of hot?

Quote
“It’s my impression that wherever you go, you make men sweat,” he said.
Brazen.

Quote
She would rather make men sweat than ever be called an ice queen again.
So…cold sweat then?

Quote
She picked up her spring roll, dipped it into the pale yellow mustard, and took a large bite, all the while staring into his eyes. It stung her mouth, but she refused to back down. He wasn’t tougher than she was, and she would prove it.
laugh That’s our Lois. Always ready to bite off more than she can chew.
CLAKR: I’m pretty tough, so…

Quote
Her mouth continued to heat up, burning up her nasal passages to her eyes, causing them to tear, but she didn’t look away.
rotflol

Quote
She pulled her hand away. She didn’t need his condescension. He had seen her efforts to show him her strength as a weakness.

She stood up. “I should go,” she said.
Oh boy.

Quote
“I want what I assume most men want,” he said.
LOIS: So…a quick tumble in the hay?

Quote
Lots of money, a fast car, power, prestige, multiple bed partners?
The first one buys the rest?

Quote
“I don’t know a single man who wants any of those things,” she said.
laugh Maybe if she stopped dating Ralph or politicians?
LEX: wave

Quote
“And you know the wants of all men?”
Is he asking her if she’s promiscuous? If her number would fill a supermarket?

Quote

[Linked Image] ‘are’

Quote
“I beg your pardon,” Lois snapped.
laugh

Quote
or by how she is portrayed in Hollywood films.
Well…California is said to be the porn-capital of the world, so…

Quote
“Yes. If their prejudices about you were wrong, as I believed they were, then it shows that you’re open minded enough to see that your assumptions don’t hold any water either,” he replied. “Not all men lie.”
I’m not sure about that chain of evidence holding up.

Quote
In essentials, I am as any human male,”
Not a lie.

Quote
“No,” she replied, and watched as he quickly moved a couple of items to her plate. She gave him a long look.

“Try it first.”
Because if he told her, she wouldn’t eat it?

Quote
After he tried it and hadn’t died, she tentatively took a bite.
Yes, but would Fugu kill Superman?

Quote
He watched her with delight. “Sea cucumber,” he finally said, taking a bite of his dumpling.

“Get out of here. This doesn’t taste like cucumber at all,”
rotflol

Quote
“What does yours say?” she asked. “Mine says: Better a diamond with a flaw than a pebble without.”
CLARK’s cookie: Put diamond with flaw on ring.

Quote
“Today is the first day of the rest of your life.”
laugh

Quote
She chuckled and nudged him with her elbow. “Are you always this corny and romantic?”
Yes?

Quote
“It isn’t perchance because one of these two people is on a first name basis with Perry White and can give you an introduction, now is it?”
No.

Quote
“In what way will I see that you’re inherently flawed?” she asked.
He’s a male?

Quote
“How many dates would it take, then, for me to learn how you differ from all other men?” she asked. “Five? Ten? Fifty? A hundred?”
Just one. In a church. Followed by a group dinner and dance event.

Quote
“Let’s pretend for a moment that this isn’t our first date, but our first anniversary,” she said, scooting closer to him. “Now, tell me.” She set her hand on his knee and stared deeply into his eyes.
rotflol I think she’d be mad if he told her on their first anniverasy.

Quote
She crossed her arms self-consciously. “What if I told you that I’m saving myself for marriage?”
CLAUDE: Liar liar panties on fire!

Quote
“What if I told you that I’ve already fallen in love with you?”
She’s good, isn’t she?

Quote
“I’d remind myself that it was you who told me that all reporters lie and would sell out their mothers for a headline.”
clap

Quote
Why couldn’t he recall seeing her byline in the Daily Planet, then?
Huh.

Quote
“I wish you luck, and I’m sorry I can’t be the man you expected, Mayson.”
shock rotflol

Quote
She drew her hand to her chest and patted it. “My name isn’t Mayson!” she shouted.

Clark sputtered, “But… but you… you had… red carnation.”

“Are you even Dan?”
clap You know, had they turned in for a nightcap, this could have been awkward, with Clark whispering ‘Mayson, oh Mayson!’ the whole time.

Quote
“The best investigative reporter in Metropolis?” he amended.

She shrugged. “Yes, I’m that Lois Lane. Don’t you mean the world?”
laugh
CLARK: No, that would be me.

Quote
“I cover the world, remember,” he said with mirthful wink.
See? Also, once he has a job in Metropolis, does that by default also make him the best investigative journalist in Metropolis?

Quote
“Would you think me heartless if I said that I didn’t care?”
Well…it’s safe to assume Mayson came early and Dan found her sitting there.

Quote
“You? Never,” he said softly. She couldn’t be heartless because she had already stolen his heart.
clap

Quote
“To think, we almost never met,” she murmured.
Nah, they’d have met. Press conferences. Superman interviews. His dating Mayson might be a tad awkward, though. At least, till the bomb.

Quote
They moved together and joined their lips.
shock She’s a fast one!

Quote
She felt as if they were floating in the air and dancing among the stars.
Down boy. Not on your first date.

Quote
Lois only hoped that once she discovered what he was hiding from her, it would be headline worthy. How big the headline would determine if she truly loved him.
rotflol Wouldn’t that be awkward if she slept with him and then published his secret?

Loved the story, Virginia! smile

It was such a romantic read--and the name switch...yeah, you totally got me there. I, too, almost went back--thinking that the characters maybe weren't Lois and Clark. That was a lot of fun thumbsup

I really enjoyed the banter between the two of them...it was such a great mix of teasing, getting to know each other, trying to get more info out of the other. Very easy to picture the scenes unfolding, both of them taking the other in, becoming intreged.

Count me in on the people hoping (someday) for a sequel hyper

Wonderful story,
Laura

Darth Michael: Wow, more FDK! That must mean you're on vacation. Does that mean we'll get more parts of the Man who would be King? (I saw it only had 2 in the TOC and you mentioned unposted parts).

Who said that there were two dates? Did I say that? No, I don't think that was written anywhere. whistle

Quote
By following him and planting bugs in his apartment, like any normal person would do?
LOIS: That's the second date.
Quote
LEX: The ER thinks I’m normal razz
CLARK: I'd rather be normal than what he is, any day.

Quote
Hmm… so, it really was Lois who was set up with Clark?
They both can't be set up?

Quote
And yet, Lucy hadn’t managed Mel Gibson.
That only works if she had started with Kevin Bacon.

Quote
Good thing they didn’t mention the job-speficics.
"Good" isn't specific enough? /ducking/

Quote
Huh. She thinks it had been Clark’s idea? Different setup after all? Or just a miscommunication?
cool

Quote
ER: /do you mean her signature pickle-slicer move/?
To start with.
LOIS: Sometimes, I finish with it just to keep things fresh.

Quote
Huh. Her original date already left?
So, you doubt that Lois and Clark could actually be set up together?

Quote
But why come clean in the end?
Lois's POV. The Source most likely said that he had discovered that he had been wrong.
LOIS: Potahto. Tomahto.

Quote
Plus, he’d look good naked?
HUMAN RIGHTS LAWYER: No, Clark, I didn't say JUST come in with a red carnation. [Linked Image]

Quote
ELLEN: That’s what I always say!
Ooops.

Quote
Hmm…I think he’d punctually enough and Lois managed to stand up her original date.
LEX: I’ll never take matchmaking again from my attorney. He’s so fried (sic).
Why would Lex have a human rights lawyer?

Quote
What if they got mugged?
CLARK: How likely would it be that we get mugged…?
LOIS: wave
Then this would have been a different story.

Quote
Maybe some string tied to his foot?
So, he shouldn't have worn the loafers?

Quote
They say it’s the best paper in town.
LOIS: /razz/ Good bye, jerk!
CLARK: /confused/
CLARK: They also said you were nice!

Quote
One month later…
LOIS: Perry, I have had to up to here with my boyfriend getting there first. You either hire Clark or I move to Gotham!
Bruce Wayne buys Daily Planet and hires Clark Kent to keep Lois out of Gotham City.

Quote
Maybe if he put out first?
CLARK: Say, what?
MARTHA: So, honey, did you get the job?
CLARK: I'm working at the Daily Planet, and I don't want to talk about it.

Quote
Did he just offer to recompense her for her time during an amorous outing?
He said that he owed her a favor, not vice versa.

Quote
So, she’s fine with the offer or compensation but averse to reporters?
LOIS: Reporters live on favors.

Quote
And Lois Lane always does (sic) a challenge.
LUCY: [Linked Image]
LOIS: Hey!

Quote
LOIS: *check*. *check*. *check*.
clap

Quote
He likes to live precariously, doesn’t he?
CLARK: She brought it up first.

Quote
HOODLUM: Yo! Your purses. And the watches. Hmm…And I’ll take the dame for a spin, too.
She meant newer, but okay.

Quote
BATMAN: That’s a nasty rumor the Joker spread about me.
JOKER: /points at Batman/ If that's not what happened to him, then the jokes on me.

Quote
LOIS: So…he lost his boyhood to a highschool sweetheart, probably the local dairy queen or somesort and been a player ever since.
CLARK: I can't win, can I?
CAT: You can take me for a spin, big man.

Quote
No, he ordered Chinese to make sure they held on the mystery meat.
Could be.

Quote
Still doesn’t help him understanding the fairer sex, though.
Clark hasn't mastered that language barrier.

Quote
ER: /reading between the lines/ She…she…likes to have a little Clark handy for when she has needs?
LOIS: What? I carry lots of handy things about in my briefcase.

Quote
Because she second-screened him during their first date?
She did it under the table so it wasn't overt.

Quote
ER: /no comprehendo/ A *politician*? Next he’ll believe an armed robber that he’s just doing a charity collection at the bank foyer.
CLARK: That's what the Invisible Man told me, Officer.

Quote
POLITICAN: I didn’t know taking money and doing what the money-giver asked for was illegal! Honestly.
LOIS: Sure, D.A. Clemmons. I'm not buying that.
CLARK: But, Lois...
LOIS: Give me a break, Clark.

Quote
Traditional ones with locusts inside?
Say what?! shock
WAITER: No comment.

Quote
ER: /confused/ Naïve but hiding something?
CLARK: Hey, I'm a complicated fellow.

Quote
Did he just call her two degrees of hot?
No, two degrees hotter than a third degree burn.

True, but brazen. Yes.

So…cold sweat then?
CLARK: Change in temperatures never really bother me.

Quote
That’s our Lois. Always ready to bite off more than she can chew.
CLAKR: I’m pretty tough, so…
No biting?

Quote
LOIS: So…a quick tumble in the hay?
Yes, that's what Lois would think.

Quote
The first one buys the rest?
LEX: I've always found that to be true.

Quote
Maybe if she stopped dating Ralph or politicians?
LEX: /wave/
LOIS: I wouldn't date Ralph. Actually, I don't date usually.
LUCY: Yeah. She interviews.
LEX: /Still wave but nobody's paying attention/

Is he asking her if she’s promiscuous? If her number would fill a supermarket?

Well…California is said to be the porn-capital of the world, so…
Apparently American women (in general) aren't as promiscuous as they are portrayed in movies and television.

I’m not sure about that chain of evidence holding up.
Yes, but the optimist in him says calling her opened minded is more likely to get that result that calling her the opposite.

Because if he told her, she wouldn’t eat it?
Most likely.

Quote
Yes, but would Fugu kill Superman?
CLARK: Well, no, but if I kill her off on the first date there won't be a second date.
LEX: Yes, I often serve Fugu at the end of a date.

CLARK’s cookie: Put diamond with flaw on ring.

CLARK: Um...

First dating anniversary.

CLAUDE: Liar liar panties on fire!
LOIS: My mother told me that if I don't have sex for 3 years, I'll become a virgin again.
SAM: Ellen! That's not factually correct.

She’s good, isn’t she?
CLARK: [Linked Image] Uh-huh.

Quote
ER: /shocked and laughing that he'd been right about them being set up with other people./
I always find it funny that you're predictions are accurate and you don't notice it.

Quote
You know, had they turned in for a nightcap, this could have been awkward, with Clark whispering ‘Mayson, oh Mayson!’ the whole time.
LOIS: I would have stopped him after the first one, so it wouldn't have been so awkward.
CLARK: Not until she told Dan to leave her apartment at once.

Quote
CLARK: No, that would be me.

Quote
See? Also, once he has a job in Metropolis, does that by default also make him the best investigative journalist in Metropolis?
LOIS: No.

Quote
Well…it’s safe to assume Mayson came early and Dan found her sitting there.
Could have happened.

Quote
Nah, they’d have met. Press conferences. Superman interviews. His dating Mayson might be a tad awkward, though. At least, till the bomb.
JIMMY: Hey, Lois, look at this. /holds up DAILY PLANET CLASSIFIEDS/ "Single male hero looking for a woman to mend his heart. Lawyers, please don't apply." Oh, never mind. He wants someone who isn't likely to explode.

Quote
She’s a fast one!
She just realized that they might not have met.

Quote
Down boy. Not on your first date.
Nah. That was merely the kiss.
CLARK: If she thinks THAT'S floating, she hasn't seen nothing yet.
LOIS: This won't work. Your grammar is atrocious. Hey, I just realized. You're perfect for the Met Star. Have a nice life.

Quote
Wouldn’t that be awkward if she slept with him and then published his secret?
CLARK: Awkward isn't the right word.
LOIS: Pulitzer worthy?
PERRY: Not if you sleep with the subject to get the story, Lois.
LOIS: Drat!

Thanks for your comments. smile1

It was such a romantic read--and the name switch...yeah, you totally got me there. I, too, almost went back--thinking that the characters maybe weren't Lois and Clark. That was a lot of fun thumbsup
evil See. Evil without torture.
MAYSON: Hello, I ended up with Dan not Clark. That sounds like torture to me.
DAN: I was about the say the same thing about her.

Quote
I really enjoyed the banter between the two of them...it was such a great mix of teasing, getting to know each other, trying to get more info out of the other. Very easy to picture the scenes unfolding, both of them taking the other in, becoming intreged.
It's the best way to hold Lois's interest.
CLARK: Really? Hmmmm. I should be mysterious more often.

Count me in on the people hoping (someday) for a sequel hyper
Took the hyper right out of my fingers. [Linked Image] I have some ideas, but first I have to catch up with Wrong Clark. Maybe after that.

I have to admit I didn't see the whole Dan/Mayson twist coming. However I should have.

First off, the set-up of Clark seemed to be with someone who had talked to the other party directly, Lois's was a multi-layered one.

On the other hand, while Clark did admit to being late, he just didn't seem to match the lateness of Lois.

Also, both parties thinking the other had gone for the red carnation seemed to be odd as well.

I should have also realized that the decription of fashion fit much better for Dan than for Clark.

I also want a sequel where Lois learned Clark's secret. Somehow I can't see him actually holding out till the first anniversary. What do I know though.

Aw! Very charming and fun! Nicely done, Virginia! thumbsup

I had to open the FDK thread to get to the TOC, so I'd caught a hint that there was a twist, and yet it still made me grin when I got to it. Extra points for including "Evening Flowers" at the end. laugh

Lois: You know, I have a funny feeling that you didn't tell me your biggest secret.

Clark: Well, just to put your little mind at ease, Lois, you're right.
