As you may know, John Kerry's wife, Teresa Heinz-Kerry, has a major interest in Heinz, Inc., which is best known for making Heinz Ketchup. The company has announced that they're non-partisen and publically owned, but I'm curious to know if it's affected anyone's buying choices anyway. This question is mostly aimed at US FoLCs, but anyone who wants to vote is, of course, welcome.  Paul

The Heinz company actually gives more money to Republicans than to Democrats. And the founder was a Republican. Just because Theresa owns a large portion of the company wouldn't affect my ketchup choices at all.

Personally, it hasn't changed my shopping habits at all. (Actually, I can't remember the last time I bought ketchup, period <G>) But I wanted to throw in my two cents worth and say that I read an column during the Republican National Convention that said that the hotel where most of the dignitaries stayed normally keeps bottles of Heinz ketcup on their tables, but they were removed during the convention. When the author asked the waiter for ketchup, it was brought out in a small serving dish. The author, a conservative republican, was somewhat amused but also appreciative.

Heh, fun poll <g> No, I'm no more or less likely to buy Heinz ketchup (or whatever). But then, I don't really buy Heinz stuff to start with -- I like going for store brands, they're cheaper  It has made for some amusing jokes, though <g> PJ

If I based all of my purchases off what candidates or issues companies supported, I think I would go crazy trying to keep everything straight. Moreover, Heinz Ketchup would be the least of my concerns - there are other companies that are doing much worse.
That said, when a company adopts a stance or practice that I find extremely unpalatable, I stop supporting them.

I tend to buy whatever I have coupons for. So food brands don't matter that much to me. I do read labels, though. That actually influences my decisions a lot more.
