Does anyone know if a free virus scan for Windows 7 my sister doesn't have virus protection and her laptop is acting weird.

AVG has an excellent free anti-virus program, available at:

http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage

It can not only scan for viruses but also take action against them. It's the one I use. Another, similar, program which is also free and highly rated is Avira Antivir, available for download here:

Good luck resolving the problem.

cheers,
Lynn

Avast! is also pretty good, though it does insist on telling you when it's updated its virus database (which seems to happen at least once a day) with an annoying popup message.

There's also a paid-for version but it's about things like anti-spam etc. which you don't really need in an anti-virus program.

I also use AVG. Have for years now and it's never given me a lick of trouble. Just quietly works away in the background.

Aramis: Yes, sorry.
Athos: No, no, by all means, let's keep things suicidal.
