I have a 46 Megabyte file and a 28.8 kpbs connection. razz What can I do? frown

ETA: I tried zipping it into an Ace file (I can't find the zip-file button). It went from 46 MB to approx. 45 MB. thud

You can divide it into several .rar files, and upload them one by one. When you download them again (or, if you're sending it to someone, when they download it), they'll just have to be rejoined - they're "self-extracting", meaning if you have winrar installed, all you have to do is right-click one of the files and tell it to extract.

My suggestion would be to find someone who has a fast connection and get them to upload it for you. If it's a video file it probably won't compress much, most video formats are already compressed.

Aha!

Well, yes, it's a video. I may have to go to the library or someplace, then.

Thanks, guys.

One thing that may help... are you sure it needs to be 46 megs? Saving with a different file format/codec and/or reducing the size, framerate, etc. of the video can save you (and anyone who wants to download and watch) a lot of file transfer time. Most of the videos you see in the FoLC Productions folder aren't even half that size. FoLCVideo.com won't even take files over 10 megs without special permission and arrangements.

When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.
