I haven't had any problems since my last post, over 8 hours ago. Maybe it was a problem with the server that got fixed?

From what it looked like to me, it was a DNS issue, possibly related to a server move, or just some bad data in the DNS servers. I asked two different DNS servers for the boards IP, and they gave different answers. Hopefully it's completely cleared now.

And just to add to this: the boards administrators are aware of this issue, and it's apparently recurred today. Annette has reported it to our webhost.

I couldn't access (once again) since 3 PM using Firefox and IE. It seems that it might be something with the host server (as the main link, lcficmbs.com, was being used by sedoparking.com).

Yes, that's precisely the issue we're aware of and our webhost has been asked to look into. Once we know more, we'll let people know.

Well, I don't have any problems now, but I do have them from time to time.
I hope they can be fixed.

Definitely DNS troubles going on since Sunday.

I found out, that using an anonymous proxy I can access the board, even when the regular access fails. I'm located in Austria, while I think the proxy is US based.

And right now it's working. 15 minutes ago and earlier, it didn't.

Ahh I just had the problem too here in LA. Worked fine at home and then at work... nothing. frown

Luckily I knew why. ^_^ Thanks Admin for keeping us up todate on everything. Keeps me from worrying when it does go down.

*suprised at how addicted she is to the boards though and never realizes how much until they go down.*

I remember we had these problems a couple of months back where some people could access the boards at times and other people could not. I was lumped in with the group that could not access them back then. Now I seem to be able to access the boards just fine when others can't. However two nights ago I did find myself seeing the same error message others are describing. Otherwise, I've had no troubles.

Something interesting just happened (don't know if it's related): I couldn't access the boards for about an hour (same problem).

My home/university network went down for a few minutes, and when it came back, I could access the boards again.

Just thought it was too much of a coincidence (this time).

Any thoughts?

That's because the problem is recurring and intermittent. It will continue to occur at random until the server figures out what's causing it and fixes it. Fortunately, irksome as it is, it seems to last a short time each time. So I guess it could be worse.

It's called dns poisoning. It is why it works sometimes and doesn't others.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DNS_cache_poisoning

In our case it has nothing to do with spyware and is generally an annoyance and just points to a spam page.
