Okay, maybe somebody can help me with this. My graemlins have always been animated until recently. I don't have them turned off. I've updated my profile and my post indicators. I've cleared the cookies from the computer. Any suggestions?? If hit the delete the cookies set by this website, will they reload?

Thanks.

Have you changed browsers recently? Added any firewall or similar software?

Do you know the most surprising thing about divorce? It doesn't actually kill you, like a bullet to the heart or a head-on car wreck. It should. When someone you've promised to cherish till death do you part says, "I never loved you," it should kill you instantly.

Nancy - can you browse over to this page and let me know if any of the animated gifs on there look animated to you?

I *think* I have an idea how to fix the problem you're having, but before I stick my foot in my mouth, I'd like to be sure it's not just something with *this* website, but will all animated gif images.....

Click Me --> you should see little animated superheroes on there.

No, they don't work either.

Funny, though, I have some animated icons saved that do work! NOPE! They don't. The saved versions work. I tried posting two of them here - they don't.

Actually, it's a good sign that they don't work on that other site either. It means that the problem isn't with this site (which I would have had a very hard time to help you with) but it's something with the settings on your computer instead (which we can fix a lot more easily).

First thing to do, in Explorer is this:
1) Choose Tools > Internet Options.
2) Click the Advanced tab.
3) Scroll to Multimedia.
4) Select Play animations.

You may have to quit Explorer and reopen for that to take effect.

If that doesn't help, then another possibility is Zone Alarm. Do you, by any chance, have that on your computer?

If you DO, then you need to go to: Privacy pane >> Ad Blocking >> Custom
and Un-check animation

Let me know if this helps out at all. If it doesn't I'll keep looking. smile

It didn't work. My settings were already like that. I tried unchecking it, rebooting, changing it back and rebooting again. It still didn't work. I don't have Zone Alarm unless it's part of McAfee's.

I see in their promo pages and product descriptions (McAfee) that their software has a preference for stopping ads and "freezing animated images". Although for the life of me, I cannot find anywhere to tell me where this preference is so I could tell you what you need to uncheck. frown (I don't use that one, I've got Norton cause I have to...)

If you check through the prefs for McAfee, you might see the preference in question.

Hope this helps... let me know. smile
