I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem. Normally the topics of these boards orange- at least on my PC- and when you opened them they are blue. Since the boards opened up for the second time the topics I haven`t read are all orange. But some of the ones I didn`t read are blue already??? Is anyone else having this problem or knows a solution?? sunshine

It has happened before and Elena gave a very good instruction how to solve it. Look here . What you should do is update your post indicators and clear your history and/or cache. Saskia

Let's hope that solves Sunshine's problem, Saskia. Somehow I have this bad feeling she's experiencing the same glitch Maria told us about and for which we still have to find a solution. Sunshine, please, let us know if you could fix it or not. Elena Forum Moderator

you know what's really odd? lately, my browser has been marking links in the fic forum as "visited" (blue instead of orange, as if i'd clicked on the link before, whether or not there were new posts in that topic), even with some of the ones i hadn't seen yet. wonder if that's related...

That's part of the problem Paul. I had that too, and cleared my cache etc. Now it's mostly fine, I got used to the other things not completely okay and blame it on my computer. I hope you can solve the problem soon, Elena, it's weird you can't so far. Saskia

Paul, I'd noticed that too and a day or so ago I wondered if that was what Maria was talking about. I have no problems with the colour of the links in other forums, but in Fic links I haven't visited are frequently blue instead of orange. Very weird!

And (just to be a pain, really
- I'm your partner. I'm your friend. - Is that what we are? - Oh, you know what? I don't know what we are. We kiss and then we never talk about it. We nearly die frozen in each other's arms, but we never talk about it, so no, I got no clue what we are.

I had the same problem in the fanfic forum. The posts I hadn't visited were blue. After clearing the history and updating the post indicators every post was orange. Tricia

After clearing the history and updating the post indicators every post was orange.
Then after restarting the computer the post colours returned to normal! Orange for unread and blue for read! Yippee!! Seriously, Tricia, this is what it's supposed to happen once you clear the history. And that's what I hoped would happen to Maria too. Kaethel...what can I say about this new episode of Kaethel and The Wonderful World of Computers? It's not that you have set to 0 the number of days before the History is cleared, is it? (/me crosses her fingers that the problem is that simple). BTW, do you have this problem only in the Fanfic folder or everywhere? Elena Forum Moderator

Nope, my history thingy is set to 20 days. And it happens everywhere on the boards. Very weird stuff. Kaethel

It's not that you have set to 0 the number of days before the History is cleared, is it? Erm...Kaethael might not have had...but I did! I didn't know that would have an effect! . Thanks, El! Now, maybe my post indicators will work!! LabRat (still )

Do you guys think that putting only 1 day in History is enough to solve this problem, but to not have the computer save every single page I'm visiting for the next 20 days? I use Internet Explorer a lot at work and at home. malu

ARGH!!!!!!! Every thing went back to orange! <sniff> IT all worked perfectly. Why did I ever reboot my laptop? It's not fair, this was not supposed to happen. At least it proves that all of the above mentioned ways to get it working actually *work* Saskia (playing with the settings and then not turning the computer out for over a week...) Edit: just took a closer look... something's wrong again... will try to solve it in the morning.

Malu, what the History feature does is to remember what pages you read, what links you clicked on. It's not the same as saving entire webpages so that you can read them offline. A thought just occurred...Maria, Sunshine and all, it's not that you've bookmarked the fanfic forum and told IE to keep the pages available for off-line reading, or have you? Elena Forum Moderator

Elena, I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear. What I meant was that, to save the Internet addresses you have accessed in your computer, the computer saves them in a file, right? If the number of days in History is higher, and you access lots of different pages every day, the size of this file would be bigger, wouldn't it? I wouldn't want to occupy too much space in the computers, since most of the pages I access are one-time accesses only. I hope this isn't too confusing. malu

I wouldn't want to occupy too much space in the computers I don't know how many different sites you visit daily, Malu, but if it's of any help I can tell you that my "History" folder is less than 5 megs and I have set IE to keep track of 20 days. As you can see, not a big file. Elena Forum Moderator

Okay, here's the deal with me now. I hope you can tell me if that's normal and supposed to happen, Elena.
A few days ago it was all weird for me, so I updated my post indicators, cleared my cache and restarted IE. And it all worked. Since then I never rebooted my computer.
I rebooted last night and all the threats I visited after updating are orange again. Is that normal? /me thinks it is... but would like the convermation.
