I was just wondering if anybody else has had this problem.

Normally the topics of these boards orange- at least on my PC- and when you opened them they are blue.

Since the boards opened up for the second time the topics I haven`t read are all orange. But some of the ones I didn`t read are blue already??? mad confused

Is anyone else having this problem or knows a solution??

It has happened before and Elena gave a very good instruction how to solve it. Look here .

What you should do is update your post indicators and clear your history and/or cache.

Let's hope that solves Sunshine's problem, Saskia.
Somehow I have this bad feeling she's experiencing the same glitch Maria told us about and for which we still have to find a solution. frown

Sunshine, please, let us know if you could fix it or not.

you know what's really odd? lately, my browser has been marking links in the fic forum as "visited" (blue instead of orange, as if i'd clicked on the link before, whether or not there were new posts in that topic), even with some of the ones i hadn't seen yet. wonder if that's related...

That's part of the problem Paul. I had that too, and cleared my cache etc. Now it's mostly fine, I got used to the other things not completely okay and blame it on my computer. laugh

I hope you can solve the problem soon, Elena, it's weird you can't so far.

Paul, I'd noticed that too and a day or so ago I wondered if that was what Maria was talking about. I have no problems with the colour of the links in other forums, but in Fic links I haven't visited are frequently blue instead of orange. confused

Very weird! smile1

Nope it didn`t work mad frown

And Wendy I too am experiencing the problem only in the fanfic forum.
The same happens in the others from time to time but I think that`s more my PC acting up.

I had the same problem in the fanfic forum. The posts I hadn't visited were blue.
After clearing the history and updating the post indicators every post was orange. dizzy

Tricia cool

Then after restarting the computer the post colours returned to normal! Orange for unread and blue for read!
Yippee!! dance

Seriously, Tricia, this is what it's supposed to happen once you clear the history. And that's what I hoped would happen to Maria too. frown

Kaethel...what can I say about this new episode of Kaethel and The Wonderful World of Computers? dizzy

It's not that you have set to 0 the number of days before the History is cleared, is it? (/me crosses her fingers that the problem is that simple).
BTW, do you have this problem only in the Fanfic folder or everywhere?

Nope, my history thingy is set to 20 days. And it happens everywhere on the boards. Very weird stuff.

Kaethel huh

Do you guys think that putting only 1 day in History is enough to solve this problem, but to not have the computer save every single page I'm visiting for the next 20 days? I use Internet Explorer a lot at work and at home.

ARGH!!!!!!! Every thing went back to orange! <sniff> IT all worked perfectly. Why did I ever reboot my laptop? dizzy It's not fair, this was not supposed to happen.

At least it proves that all of the above mentioned ways to get it working actually *work*

Saskia (playing with the settings and then not turning the computer out for over a week...)

Edit: just took a closer look... something's wrong again... will try to solve it in the morning.

Malu, what the History feature does is to remember what pages you read, what links you clicked on. It's not the same as saving entire webpages so that you can read them offline.

A thought just occurred...Maria, Sunshine and all, it's not that you've bookmarked the fanfic forum and told IE to keep the pages available for off-line reading, or have you?

Elena,

I'm sorry if I wasn't very clear. blush What I meant was that, to save the Internet addresses you have accessed in your computer, the computer saves them in a file, right? If the number of days in History is higher, and you access lots of different pages every day, the size of this file would be bigger, wouldn't it? confused I wouldn't want to occupy too much space in the computers, since most of the pages I access are one-time accesses only.

I hope this isn't too confusing. blush

I don't know how many different sites you visit daily, Malu, but if it's of any help I can tell you that my "History" folder is less than 5 megs and I have set IE to keep track of 20 days.

As you can see, not a big file. smile

Okay, here's the deal with me now. I hope you can tell me if that's normal and supposed to happen, Elena.

A few days ago it was all weird for me, so I updated my post indicators, cleared my cache and restarted IE. And it all worked. Since then I never rebooted my computer.

I rebooted last night and all the threats I visited after updating are orange again. Is that normal? /me thinks it is... but would like the convermation.

I don`t know if you changed something or if my is just a little slow reacting to me clearing my cache

Anyway whatever you did it worked dance notworthy

Aaah! So your computer is running under Windows Kaethel, too? It's a special version that does everything you don't want it to do. Very sneaky thing. Particularly skilled at letting you think everything works, then bam!! Slamming the door onto you when you're relaxed and happy. razz

Kaethel smile (who has the same problem as Saskia - and no, it's not normal because it used not to be that way)
Posted By: Saskia Re: Topic colour - 05/01/03 06:48 AM
YAY!!!!!! I've got the Kaethel Windows version! That's unique. Not that I like it, cause it gives her and me too much trouble. But I get the feeling it's my windows indeed. Or my old laptop is starting to fall apart.

So if you don't hear from me in a while, my laptop said 'kaboom.'

Saskia (and it's only a problem on these boards)
