The NY Times Frugal Traveler blog made a post about my town. Here's the link if you want to check it out: A Portuguese University Town

I'm curious to know what you think about our "vampire" getup. I have one in my closet and even dress in it at least twice a year goofy

I love the capes! So few people wear capes anymore. What a loss.

A very interesting article and photos. The sense of history is palpable.

I agree with Iolanthe.

To me, capes have a dramatic flair, not to mention that they are just plain fun.

The area is lovely.

Thanks for sharing.

Reminds me of Harry Potter instead of vampires. Though I've actually never seen Harry Potter so maybe they don't even wear capes...

Found this pic and it just screamed Harry Potter to me.

Looks like a great university and was an interesting article. Thanks for sharing!

To me too! Especially during the reception of the new students, when the older ones show the freshmen around campus and they pass through places like this:

This was part of the old hospital and now is the College of Arts, of the University of Coimbra.

wink I completely agree, Lynn.

And they're also multipurpose since students can't wear umbrellas with the traje. Besides, they're warm and make students look like Batman. What more could a person want from a piece of clothing?
