Well, technically I was never gone, but I'm really back now.

A few weeks ago, my computer crashed. A friend was able to save all the stuff on my hard drive which was very fortunate for me. Unfortunately all my software had been lost.

I was able to use the back up discs I had to reinstall most everything, except my internet. I had aol and I was using a dial up modem. I didn't have a disc to reinstall the aol so I was kind of... out of luck.

As a kind of back up I still had my old first generation iMac (OS 8.5) which was still connected via dial up. Of course, the version of aol that existed on that computer was aol 5.0. Just a bit old.

I was able to view my emails, and visit this site, so I was able to keep current with the stories being posted. I just wasn't really able to interact very well.

Now, you ask, how am I back?

Well, I finally took the plunge and have signed up for high speed internet, and have just finished the connection install.

In conjunction with this I now have a new email which I will share with you all.

It's good to be back.

Tank (who thinks it's pretty neat to be able to see that Green Lantern trailer; a feat I've never been able to partake of in the past)

Welcome to the fast lane of the information superhighway! Once you use a high speed connection, dial-up connections seem get-out-and-push slow, don't they? May your computer troubles be behind you.

Re the high-speed internet connection...

I remember, back in the day, signing up for it and thinking, "Wow, this is really fast!"

And now I'm all jaded and blase, and I want things to be faster yet. laugh
