Well, I'm heading for South Africa on Sunday for a couple of weeks of much needed R'n'R, so technically it's not a summer holiday but I don't mind - SA in June can be just as warm as, and probably drier than an English summer. I intend to do very little, eat and sleep a lot, spend quality time with the cats (preferably on the bed/in front of the tv) and have my mom look after me like only a mommy can. (now I just need to tell them I'm coming...)

(now I just need to tell them I'm coming...) Oh that is too funny gr8! You had me rolling. I'm just picturing a college student coming home with all their laundrey while the parents are about to get it on or something. "Mom?! Dad?! I'm home for 2 Weeks!!!" Hahahaha My vacay plans include LAFF! Woo hoo!!! Okay, I'm done. And probably just some short visits to Lake Charles, LA to visit my family. A couple weekends here and there. No other big trips planned.

... vacation? What's that? I've been done school for over a month now, so I'm up to my neck in my summer job. And although I absolutely love it, I don't get any vacation time because I'm only working there for four months.

You guys with the entire summer off should so not rub it in. *lol* Lucky devils! I hope you enjoy it, cause pretty soon you won't have that luxury anymore -- and you'll start missing it desperately! My summer vacation is coming up real quick and I can't wait!! I'm leaving in 2 weeks for Alaska - going there for a week. (one really cool, awesome, wonderful week!) (and then in July I'm going to LAFF, but that's just an extended week-end and doesn't really count as "vacation")

Gr8, Steph, that's so funny!
And Lara, you are going to Alaska! That's fantastic. You have to post some pictures here, okay?
Me, I'm not going far from home, though I plan to travel around Skåne, which is quite lovely in the summer.

We're starting the two week trip off with a road trip to Alberta-my husband's best friend is finally getting married, at the Calgary Zoo! The rest of the two weeks is being spent visiting family and friends in the area, with one week spent at a small lake-side resort in the Okanagan. Our first real vacation in two years since last year we were too wrapped up in the move out here to the island to take a vacation, so I hope to just relax a lot that last week and have a good time between the beach and the local vineyards.

I'm super excited because I'm going to Korea in July for a wedding. We have a lot of friends living there, so I look forward to meeting up with them and getting the insider's scoop on where to eat/go. I'm just picturing a college student coming home with all their laundrey while the parents are about to get it on or something. "Mom?! Dad?! I'm home for 2 Weeks!!!" Haha. I've got four weeks at the end of July / beginning of August. I'll be going to a couple of weekend SF conventions, apart from that I'll probably stay in London and try to get some redecoration done.

I'm going to a wedding in NY in July. A bunch of us are planning on going to Niagara Falls the next day. If we had more time, I'd hit up a few people for a meet up. Once we leave there, I'm going to spend a week with my dad and his family in PA. It'll be nice, since they normally come to visit me, and we've exhausted most of the touristy stuff here.

Um... may I call my leaving for Canada a vacation? A quite extended vacation? Then, yep, I'm going to Canada (don't mention this to my scholarship agency, they might not be amused by this interpretation of an academic year abroad :p ) Jana

WELL, I was supposed to be going to Maui for my wedding anniversary later this month but instead I am going to be in a wedding where I have to wear a BROWN bridesmaids dress, but I am not bitter or anything. And Maui will still be there in the spring. Sniff.
But I am going to LAFF in July (WOO!) and I am trying to talk my husband into something else later in the summer ... we went to Vegas in January, so it's not like we've been utterly deprived of vacations this year. I just really want my chocolate-covered macadamia nuts and my Blue Hawaii with a pink umbrella.

Is it still a vacation if you bring work with you? Going home to San Antonio to see aunts and uncles for a week in July, but that's not nearly as exciting (whoops don't tell them haha) as going sea kayaking in Alaska at the end of June. It's not the season of summer until I do something just tad Xtreme (but this sounds very tame for once). JD

No where.
Well, I might go from the living room to the den a couple of times, but that's about it.
For the first time in probably 12 plus years I won't be going to Chicago Con this year. They changed the date so it interferes with something else that one of our group has to go to for work. So with one down to share costs and the ridiculous price of gasoline, a trip to Chicago this summer is out.

I'm taking Lara up to Denali National Park for a few days, but that's as far away from home as I'm getting this summer... Unless I can convince her to stuff me in her bags and take me back to Montreal with her!

Well, I was planning on going with a bunch of my family to The Great Smoky Mountains the end of June. But then my retina had to go and detach itself from the back of my eye so I can't go. It has something to do with the high elevations increasing the pressure too high in my post-surgical eye. If I'd known sooner, I would have planned on going to LAFF (by then I should be much more healed). Ah, well. I'll have time off and that means I can get some writing done! And that will be a vacation for me!

My honeymoon in Oahu this August is the only thing I have planned. I wanted to go to LAFF but <sniff>, the timing just isn't right. My fiance is thinking about going to his brother's basic training graduation in Texas at the end of July but I doubt I will be tagging along.
If gas weren't so expensive I'd drive down to Metropolis for the Superman Celebration.
