Our little guy's surgery was this morning. They started an hour later than planned, mostly because he's so very tiny and they had a hard time getting an IV started, etc. The anesthesiologist said that right before they put him out, he looked at each of them and smiled.

Our surgeon said that it went exceptionally well. He was able to complete the surgery laproscopically, which he had told us he'd try but wasn't hopeful about. Apparently, about 8lbs is the smallest you can do surgery like that, and he is just about 8.5lbs. The surgeon said he wasn't going to lie to us, it wasn't easy just because everything they were working with was so small, but that he was very pleased. It went so well that he didn't even put a G-tube in because he didn't think it was necessary.

With all of that, it looks like we'll be able to go home on Friday instead of sometime over the weekend.

We believe that God could easily have chosen to heal him instantly if He wanted, but we also believe that He sends people into our lives to use as His instruments of healing and that's what He chose to do in this case. He gave us a surgeon and the rest of the medical team who know what they're doing and who He gave wisdom to do what needs done.

We do have a road ahead of us - there will still be feedings every three hours for the next few weeks, but hopefully, by Christmas, he'll be eating normally, without having to do the supplemental feedings and so on.

God is so good. Literally.

Thank you all for your continued prayers. They are much appreciated.

Lois: You know, I have a funny feeling that you didn't tell me your biggest secret.

Clark: Well, just to put your little mind at ease, Lois, you're right.

Poor little guy! That's a lot for such a small man to go through. frown But I'm so glad he's doing all right, Carol! Give him a hug from me! sloppy Thanks for keeping us informed.

“Is he dead, Lois?”

“No! But I was really mad and I wanted to kick him between the legs and pull his nose off and put out his eyes with a freshly sharpened pencil and disembowel him with a dull letter opener and strangle him with his own intestines but I stopped myself just in time!”

Thanks so much guys.

He's doing very well and they are even letting me nurse him instead of fortifying bottles. The doc said that since we think we've fixed the problem, there may not be a need to beef him up with extra, you know? He does seem a little bit chunkier but he also had an IV in for 24 hours or so.

We should get to go home tomorrow. My sister is here with me with her TIVO and Thanksgiving goodies!

Thanks again guys!

Athos: If you'd told us what you were doing, we might have been able to plan this properly.
Aramis: Yes, sorry.
Athos: No, no, by all means, let's keep things suicidal.

We're still at the hospital. He's doing well over all but he's lost an ounce since before surgery. May not seem like much but we've been fighting for every ounce for months. We think they messed up with the scales or something. They have 3 scales here and we've been using the same one for two weeks now but they used a different one yesterday morning and this morning. This morning, it said he was up 6oz - not possible so we reweighed later today and his net gain was -1oz. So we're here until at least tomorrow.

My head hurts - we could have gone home today but I insisted on reweighing him without all of the IV tubes and tape and such and once we did, he lost that ounce. If I hadn't insisted, we'd be on our way home. It's not that I want to be here much longer, but I don't want to go home until he's ready.

Now if I can just get some more writing done... smile

That's important!

I'm sorry that the little one had to go through all that (I've got two little boys, myself) but I'm happy that it's all going on well.

Hugs twins to you and lots of love love to Christopher.

Keep us posted on how he's doing.

My heart goes out to you and your family, Carol. Having a child in the hospital is a tremendous burden on everyone involved, and I know that the Father is taking a Personal interest in Christopher. I pray that he will be healed, and that he (and you, of course) can go home soon.
