I can't believe someone else hasn't started this thread yet. I've been very hit and miss about reading/contributing, but I'm going to try and be better about it.

This weekend I'm going to finally finish painting my bedroom. I started last summer with two test patches. After months of staring at them, I decided to go with another color. <giggles> I have one wall done - three to go.

My son turns 13 this weekend and he's hit the stage where it's no longer cool to hang out with me. So he'll be going to the mall with a few of his friends to see a movie and "cruise chicks" (his words). Yeah, good luck with that, Romeo. I'm guessing all the chicks at our local mall are going to be quite safe.

On Sunday we're having a family b-day party for him combined with an Oscar fest. We all put $5 in the kitty, make our guess for the Oscars and, at the end, the person with the most correct wins the pot. I've won the last seven out of eight years. <cracks knuckles> It's the easiest $40 I earn all year.

Lois: You know, I have a funny feeling that you didn't tell me your biggest secret.

Clark: Well, just to put your little mind at ease, Lois, you're right.

So this Chit Chat thing is about what's going on in FoLC's lives, right? If that's not the actual concept let me know, but in the meantime if I could ask a question...

In the year I was away, I watched a LOT of Firefly Marathons (HUGE JAYNE FAN HERE) and I noticed that Cheryl Cain did the story editing. Is she related to Dean Cain?

My oldest just got her class schedule set for high school and my youngest got grounded *again*.

We have a blog: MoonbunnysComics but the warning is that it's only three entries and not exactly left wing friendly, but comments are welcome anyway.

The name change is just a fascination with Japanese language plus I kept having worries of my old logon having too much personal significance.

The hubby and I finally found an awesome RPG group and joined the local Browncoat faction in our area(more Serenity fun)

I gotta say again, thanks to Laurach for keeping me up to date and her continual urging to keep my story going. I'm really glad to be back. smile1 You guys are all so awesome, I really missed you.

TEEEEEJ, these weekly "chats" were started so that we could all keep up with what's going on in each others' lives, without having to have mIRC, AIM, ICQ, or any other chat/instant messaging software. Plus, these threads allow us to "chat" outside of real-time, so we have time to think about our responses, and can make responses longer than a few lines--which can't really be done that well in chats or IMs.

That said, my weekend is going to be pretty okay, I think.

Tomorrow, I plan to transfer a few movies I taped from my tapes to DVDs--using my roommate's VCR/DVD-R machine.

Sunday, after church and stuff, is the usual dinner at my parents' house.

This week, I'll probably be able to take another bin or two to my new place to un-pack, since the snow has melted enough not to be hard and slippery ice. And even if it is slippery, I can now stomp a hole in it to get my footing.

Another twist is that I'll have to have Anna (my younger-younger sister) look at my car before it gets dark on Sunday.

It seems that, in all the commotion trying to get it out of my driveway during the last week or so, I must've scraped it on the ice-hardened snow, so now there's a huge (i.e. about 3 inches tall X 7 inches wide X 1/8 inch deep) gash in the paint on the part underneath the passenger-side door. I discovered it this morning as I was leaving for work.

I need her to either a) tell me what to do about it (Anna's an aspiring mechanic/auto-body worker), or b) fix it for me--just not on Sunday. If she can't do either one, I'll ask Dad.

He may not be a mechanic (aspiring or otherwise), but he HAS worked on his own cars to make sure they can pass inspection and stuff before.

If Dad doesn't know, then I guess I'll have to take it to the shop. GAH.

And you wonder why I don't have kids yet, Sue. <g> You raise them and love them and then they get to be teenagers and think you don't know anything and your not cool enough to hang around with. <sniffle - poor Sue> laugh

Glad to have you back Teej!

Hope your sister is able to help you out with your car, Darcy.

I personally am going to spend the weekend fighting off my hubby's cold. I told him that it's really nice to share and all - but come on, you really don't need to share everything. goofy But I'm bound and determined that I'm going to fight it off. We'll see.

Other than that, I need to finish up some reading for my Kerth noms (don't those have to be in by Sunday? Eeek!) and I have a couple of beta readings to do. And I really need to finish up my taxes. They are actually done - but I haven't done my e-file yet because this year we actually owe money and well, where's the incentive in getting that done in a timely fashion?

On an up note. It is in the 60's here and the sun is shining beautifully.

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Oh, god, taxes! Did you have to remind me, DJ? I guess that just got added to my to-do list for the weekend.

My other plans include catching up on new stories. I don't know what has been up with me lately, but it's been all I could do to hang on to a few of the fics I've been following for a while, and I haven't even been doing that very well. As for new ones, forget it. So I need to fix that.

I want to think more about a sequel to In The Still of the Night. I have a title and an image of Clark in his treehouse, and that's it. My other WIP hasn't been touched in many long days because I am stuck on a resolution to the A-plot. Maybe I'll just toss a lot of insane ideas into a hat and draw one.

And, finally, this weekend I am going eat right and exercise. Yes, I really am.

I actually have a (social) life this weekend!!! Yeah! First time since I've moved here that it doesn't involve family! smile

Going scrapbooking tmw and then later playing cards (euchre). very much looking forward to it. (except the out-of-my-comfort-zone,meeting-new-people thing!)

Sunday is typical: church, dinner with family. Maybe catch a nap?!!

Have a great weekend everyone! And thanks for the reminder about those Kerth nods!!

Jo

Three things for me this weekend:

1) A snow storm.
Someone, who shall remain nameless, keeps asking me for it and I keep disappointing them and making them wait... Now that I've sent them the first part (which hopefully they didn't think was bad, as I have started to myself) I will write part 2. In fact, I will write part 2 this week-end if I have to stay up three nights straight and not sleep - or alternatively, if it kills me. *lol*

2) Lots of 3D product testing.
The girl who usually tests the top merchant products is out for a few days - I'm her replacement (she was mine when I quit, now I'm hers since I came back) My email is filled with testing requests, but those are the fun and easy products to work with, these merchants always send quality items that work the first time around. There will be a lot to do, but it's not going to be very time consuming.

3) Shop for a new dryer.
Ours died. I'm annoyed about this in so many ways, it's no even funny.

Other than that, I will try my hardest not to go looking in the fridge half a million times an hour. And I will succeed. I really have to.

Hope you guys have a great week-end! smile

Yes my dear, you may. I'll even make badges when I get home later. How does that sound? laugh

It sounds irresistible. I just don't know whether it's the badge or the fridge sounding like that. frown

HAHA, Sue I love your stories about your son. They make me giggle more than anything.

My weekend? Tonight I am going over to a friends house and a bunch of us are going to have a homeade dinner together and then drink. We aren't calling it a girls sleep over... but that is what it is mostly. I love some of my friends and don't get to see them nearly enough so this is a special treat. laugh

Tomorrow once I drag my butt out of bed I will be going to China Town in downtown LA to watch the Chinese New Year parade. It should be a blast.

After that I'll probably go to my favorite ramen house and eat and then go manga shopping. Woo!

Sunday... rest!! I'm sure I will need it by then. ^_^

Oh Wow that sounds so awesome! The northern state I live in is gonna get deluged with snow tonight, and I'm betting me and the hubby aren't going to be able to drive to the Serenity rpg tomorrow, but we made it to the Browncoat Chinese New Years party last month. It was a great time but no dragons or fireworks to speak of. I'd love to see something like that in real life.

I like the idea of the fridge-lookers Badge, I'd love to be part of that club. One of the things I was *supposed* to do when I was off line was work out...that didn't really happen though.

The Oscars might be interesting if there's no political speeches, but I doubt they'll let the evening pass without a couple of diatribes. That's cool though, I have my Firefly box set and 3 seasons of Lois and Clark to pop in the player if things get too ridiculous. Good Luck on your $40, Sue, and the painting, no sprinkles on the keyboard! laugh

Hmm the weekend.

Mine kicked off at midnight with me 'starring' a silent film for Film & Lighting class. This *shady* BP gas station downtown let us stage a robbery, only I think some of the 'clientele' (and I use that word really liberally for the creepy people out in the night) thought we were really robbing the gas station...it was interesting.

Other than that, I just have homework to do. Got a campaign due Monday, and a rough one due Tuesday that I have to go out and survey to see if John Q. Public gets our message...

Have a good weekend, everyone!

I've been trying to finish my tax filing for the past two weeks, but the stupid University does not send my 1098-T so that I can declare my tuition payments and scholarships! mad It's the only thing that is missing. Without the tuition payment, I would have to make a payment, instead of getting a refund.

According to them,

Our system failed to process a number of 1098-T documents. We are working to process the one's that were missed and will mail them as quickly as possible.
This was over two weeks ago. mad

If you don't look in your fridge... maybe you have a look at my story, Lara? Huh? Please?

My weekend is rather normal. I worked a tiny little bit for university and I wrote a bit more of my story. Otherwise I just relax, and try to get rid of that darn cold.

yes... that's exactly what I'm going to do right now. I worked all morning and went shopping for the stupid clothes dryer after that. *sigh*

Refrigerator Boycott Club badges.
Shouldn't we rename it into 'Refrigerator Girlcott Club'?

That is *so* funny. There literally are tears streaming down my face. I am printing that and putting it on my fridge. Thank you so much for giving me some laughter today. smile
