Anybody got any suggestions for a good site to use to watch / download shows on the internet?

It depends on what you're looking for. The Big Three (CBS, NBC, and ABC) are now streaming their shows on their website starting the morning after it airs on TV. They seem to use Flash, RealPlayer, or Windows Media Player. It can be a little clunky and unwieldy (it took me 15 minutes last night to figure out I had to select a player on CBS's website before I could watch a show.)
Downloading, you may want to look into Bit Torrent. It takes awhile to download, and sometimes it's hard to find what you're looking for, but they usually have the shows a few days after they air.

I know several really good bittorrent sites for this and I have a bittorent guide that I wrote to teach people how to use it. However, I don't know how kosher things like that are on this board so I don't really feel comfortable posting it. But you are welcome to contact me if you want the info.

If you do prefer Emule more than BitTorrent, you can try http://tvunderground.org.ru/index.php It's very complete, with shows in many languages.

You hafta be careful in downloading, though...
One time, with eMule, I thought I was getting an episode of Stargate. What I got was an hour of... interesting porn.
Mmm cheese.
I vid, therefor I am.

Yeah, it happens. But on the website I gave the adress, all the links are checked first. There is no fake on this website. That is a big advantage to know that we won't have porn instead of whatever we were looking for!

www.mininova.org is also good for bittorrent files. Late versions of the Opera web browser (which is free and pretty good) can download bittorrent files without using any other software. Videolan is a good program for viewing video files - there are versions for PC, Mac, etc. and it's free and can handle most formats apart from the weird ones used by Realplayer.

A website limited to TV torrents is #eztv @ EFNET , but those list contains pretty much only weekly TV shows. If that's what you've been looking for, then this site will be a big help.
