I can't believe he is gone frown

My heart goes out to his family and friends...they will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Perry: "Clark, do you want me to send you to the dark room?"

Clark: "The dark room?"

I'm very sorry to hear him go.

And I know this sounds heartless just typed out, but the very first time I saw him on tv, he was poking poisonous spiders with a stick. I knew one day one of those animals would bite back...

It's very sad, of course. His show was a favorite with a lot of kids and he acquainted people with some of the world's most interesting creatures.

I'm sorry what happened to him happened, but not particularly surprised. When you spend your life walking on the very edge of a cliff, all it takes is a tiny slip to send you over the edge. No one is perfect. It's too bad that it happened to Steve Irwin.

RIP Steve. You'll be missed by a lot of people.

Nan

It is sad. I feel for his family. At least he passed doing something that he loved doing.

I was really sorry to read it on the on line news today. frown Every TV news reported it, Steve of Crocodiles will be missed. Never before I was interested in crocodiles or snakes but his enthusiasm for wild animals world was infectious.

I'm really sad that we've lost an Australian icon to the world. He was stabbed in the chest by a sting ray off Port Douglas in Northern Queenland while filming a documentary. I wonder though what provoked it, animals will rarely attack without being provoked.

He was so young. It's such a tragedy.

This was sad to hear. I was afraid he might get killed one day by one of the animals he worked with - although I would have never ever imagined it would be a stingray. They are normally pretty docile creatures. I've swam with them several times.

I will miss his funny humor and the interesting documentaries he did on animals. frown

I've heard on the news that this was strictly reflex and instinctive behaviour. This was nothing like an animal stalking it's prey. This creature was incapable of stalking or being provoked in such a way as to intentionally strike. The news explained it was unfortunately a matter or being in the wrong place at the wrong time. I would imagine he accidently brushed it and when he did it's reflex was instinctive. It could just as easily hit his arm or leg. Unfortuantely it was his chest and heart.

It is a sad thing.

I miss him too. I really watch so little television, but I had seen a few short bits of Steve Irwin documentaries. He was a totally fascinating person. He juggled with snakes and was totally confident around crocodiles. Amazing. Talk about Crocodile Dundee. I'm really sorry that he is dead.

So you have been swimming with stingrays, DJ? Now that I know that Steve Irwin died after being stung by one, I think that's creepy to think of.

I was on vacation when my Dad called and told me I was in shock I couldn't believe it. My prayers go out to his family.
