As most of you probably know, on the evening of Wednesday, November 9th, terrorists attacked three hotels in Amman, Jordan, and the resulting explosions killed 67 people and injured more than 300. Most of the victims were family and friends attending a wedding at the Radisson Sas.
News. I can't possibly begin to describe how I feel - I can't imagine the level of depravity, the inhumanity it would take to walk into a room full of laughing people, husbands and wives, parents carrying children months old, watch a happy bride and smiling groom approach, and blow everyone and everything up. Unthinkable. Unbelievable. Unconscionable.
Thanks to everyone who checked in to ask how I am; I appreciate it more than I can say. Thankfully I and my family and friends are all OK.
The explosions were very close to home; all three hotels are within a ten minute drive of where I live. My mother is often in that area doing her rounds at hospitals; luckily on Wednesday she'd come home unusually early. My sister was in a restaurant right across the street from the Hyatt when a friend called her with news of an explosion and told her to get out of there, fast. We were very lucky. So many people were not.
My sympathies and prayers are with the victims and their families at this difficult time. And as for terrorists, committing inhuman crimes around the world and trying to hide behind flimsy excuses of religion or politics - they might succeed once in a while, but they will never prevail.
