Just to let everyone know, the administrators of the #loisclark IRC channel have decided to reduce the age limit for the channel from 16 to 13. We've noticed a number of teenagers have joined our boards recently, and some have expressed interest in chatting on IRC as well. After discussing it, we have decided that since our Archive and the Fanfic section of these MBs are for PG-13 stories, 13 seems to be a more reasonable age limit for IRC as well. You still need to sign up to receive the password, and we do have a few rules you must agree to. To register, you may go here: http://www.nfanfic.net/loisclark.html If anyone has any questions, please let us know! Kathy Channel Admin -- #loisclark

And if anyone out there would like to chat, but just doesn't know how to do this "IRC" thing, be sure to ask -- we've got lots of helpful FOLCs who'll be glad to walk you through it PJ
"You told me you weren't like other men," she said, shaking her head at him when the storm of laughter had passed. He grinned at her - a goofy, Clark Kent kind of a grin. "I have a gift for understatement." "You can say that again," she told him. "I have a...." "Oh, shut up."

And you'll find the basics here in the Fanfic Archive FAQ. Which should get you started, at least. LabRat

You might want to check this thread too. Diemen (the server I connected to in the example I posted) doesn't exist anymore

Pssst, FoLCs... do you know any free programs for Windows users that allow chatting on IRC? (other than mIRC... I've already wasted my 30 days ) Thanks, AnnaBtG.

I've had mIRC since April. Believe me, Anna, you can keep it for free if you want. They don't check. Jen the Poor

You mean, Anna, that we might actually be able to meet......in person?? JOY!!! I'm one of those stupid ones who couldn't figure out IRC. And a friendly FoLC walked me through it.

Jen's right, Anna - there's no cutoff limit on mirc. You're encouraged to pay for it but it won't stop working if you don't. LabRat
