Huh? I thought not only that Angel was already guaranteed a fifth season, but that Spike was transferring over there from Buffy.  LabRat (who feels a sense of deja vu coming on...)

Angel seem be quite sure (I guess 90%) but Spike's presence on isn't confirmed yet.
James Marsters Spoke about that in the Q&A at the Cleveland convention. I'll try to find the right words...

from renewangel.com... Variety announces Angel\'s renewal for a fifth season!! (subscriber-only publication, so you'll only be able to see headline if not subscribed) Of course, we'll want to hear it from the frog's mouth, too, when the WB's schedule is officially announced tomorrow morning, but this is the news we've been waiting and hoping for! it's official, we have a 5th season! as for the rest... JM and all... we'll just have to wait and see. just glad that there will be a show next year. Paul

Apparently Smallville is going to switch nights and be on at 8:00 while Angel will keep the 9:00 wed night time slot.
