The germ of a story idea came to my mind today, but it is far too depressing for me to want to write (or even) read it. But I know that there are some authors here who are far more into such stories than I.

So here's my idea: The story would be entirely from Bernard Klein's POV. While running an experiment on Superman -- perhaps trying to desensitize him to Kryptonite -- something goes horribly awry and the experiment kills Superman. (A milder version of this could be to have Bernie stumble upon gold Kryptonite and expose Superman to it. According to the comics, if Superman were ever to touch gold K, he would lose his powers permanently, but he would not otherwise be affected.) The story could then deal with how Bernie copes with the aftermath. If anyone is interested in running with this, be my guest.

The idea got me to thinking...The only fanfic that I can remember that was *entirely* from Bernie's POV was one I wrote, and that one doesn't really count. As its title implies, Geek Humor is really more of a joke than an actual story.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good fanfic that is solely from Dr. Klein's POV?

Joy,
Lynn

A long time ago, bakasi posted something like that. Here's the last part of the series - with a link to the earlier parts:
Sudden Paternity

ETA: I think I also found a sequel:
Bless You, Dr. Klein

Thank you, LJK. Those stories were just what the doctor ordered. wink

And the stories were precisely to my taste -- short and light-hearted.

If anyone comes up with any other stories with Dr. K. as the sole POV character, I'd love to read them.

Joy,
Lynn

Bernie makes a guest appearance in this story:

Firestorm by Irene Dutch. It's a fun change of venue, so to speak. If you enjoy it, search the archive by author for the sequel(s?). I recommend them.

True, there's a lot of Bernie in them, although they're not completely written from Bernie's POV. However, the story and its prequels/sequels/all-around-els* are greatly recommendable. smile
(*: You'll know what I mean with that when you read them. All I'm going to tell you right now is that there's some (benign) time-travel around.)
