In more ways than one! laugh

As has become traditional, one of the Index Crew has sent me a list of stories posted during 2011, but not yet submitted to the Archive. And, since we’re now starting to see a dwindling upload queue and we have GEs eager and willing to edit but with nothing to do….I figured it was time to post it.

Given a previous thread discussion, this year instead of sending out individual email and PM nag…er, reminders…to the authors I’ve decided to try posting the list to the mbs.

As usual, there may be all kinds of perfectly valid reasons why the stories below haven’t been submitted to the Archive, but if it’s because you always meant to and then forgot they were lurking on your hard drive, now is definitely the time to think about submitting! It’s never too late and no story is ever too short!

I’ve gone through the list and weeded out stories that have been submitted/uploaded since I received it, as far as I know, but if there are any omissions or errors, do let me know.

Thanks, as ever, to the Index Crew for providing the information.

Cool. It would be particularly nice to get Aussie Rules up there, as Aussie Rules Bet is already there. smile

Is "Without a Trace" posted anywhere? I couldn't find it.

AFAIR, WAT was Sheila's contribution to the FoLCdom fundraiser, many moons ago. Can't even remember which year that would have been, now.

I imagine it would have been posted to one of the mbs - try Zoomway's - it might actually be that far back! laugh

In fact, I think all three of those - Sara's and Yvonne's, too - were contributions for that particular fundraiser and the only three of the contributions which never made it to the Archive.

ETA: Okay, just stepped out of the bathtub and my fading, chicken noodle memory has finally come clear. These stories were under a year's embargo for the 2006 fundraiser - AFAIR. That meant that the only way to read them was to donate to the fund and receive them on disk.

Once the embargo was up, most FoLCs posted their contributions to the mbs. But now that I'm thinking about it, I don't think Sheila ever did. I seem to remember for some months afterwards she was posting that she wanted to do more work on it.

So...if you want to read it - you know what to do. wink

Sheila! Incoming! goofy

The reason(s) I hadn't Archived "Sleeping Princess" were threefold:

a) Nowhere in the story do I mention Lois or Clark by name -- as it is a fairy tale, no one has actual names

b) I posted it to the boards as an example of a possible fairy tale, hoping to inspire others to get that genre on (it went along with my Fairy Tale Challenge )

c) It was an excerpt from Missing Lois. (although you've told me before that doesn't stop something from being considered for the Archives).

But if you still want it, I'll send it along.

Although it's not on your list (since it finished posting New Year's Day 2012), I'm also slowing working on prepping Nightfall Honeymoon. And I'll send Once Upon A Dream... (oh, dear, I'm letting my fairy tale preference show blush ) after it's had time to roll a few more groans and kryptonite studded bats out of people here on the boards. laugh I've already inundated you with everything else (per my New Year's Resolution to submit stories within a month of when they are completed here on the boards).

There seems little point in uploading this one then, Virginia, if the text is included in ML. Thanks, though. smile I'll look forward to receiving the others in due course.

Yeah, I know mine never made it to the archive...yet. I'm not particulary happy with the rush job I did on it, and plan to (at some point in the future) revisit it to make it something worth while. Thanks though, for the reminder.

Mrs. Luthor:

Here is the link to the archive (just in case you don't have it).

On the left hand side, you'll see in yellow - Written a fanfic?

Click the link below it for - Submit it to the archive

Then you'll get the submission page. Just follow the instructions.

Then, Labby will email you within a day or two and let you know who your general editor will be.

He/She will read the story and email you with any suggestions/typos/etc.

Once you approve of any changes, your GE will then send it back along to be uploaded to the archive.

Labby will then send you another email letting you know that the story is being prepped for uploading.

Soon, your story will appear on the archive!

Hope that helps! smile

LOL - sorry. The Archive has been such an integral part of FoLCdom for so many years, it never occurs to me that there may be new FoLCs who've never heard of it. laugh

Thanks, DC, for the info. Here's another link, Mrs. L, which might help, too:

Finished your Fanfic? Archive it!

One point I'd make here - just to encourage people to send their stories to the archives - is that there are some people (like me) who don't read a story until it's posted on the archives. So to get more readers... you might want to consider posting on the archives.

Of course, in my case, I'm horribly behind on my archive reading, too. But I don't read stories in parts because I find that when I enjoy a story, I have no patience to wait for the next part. I have to have the whole story NOW!!! laugh

MLT is right! I have gotten requests to put Stranger in the Archives which I promise will happen...this year.

A writer's job is to think of new plots and create characters who stay with you long after the final page has been read. If that mission is accomplished than we have done what we set out to do, which is to entertain and hopefully educate.

Hi All: I'm a little late to this since nominations are closed. I didn't post "Nighttime in the Daytime" to the Archive this past year because I didn't have time to polish it. It's my take on the Nightfall incident in my Alt Clark universe. I'm hoping to get it done this year. My last year has been crazy busy with RL.
This years Kerth nom "The Agent and the Admiral" is a bit of that universe. They follow "All the Daytime and the Nighttime," where Clark is an undercover FBI agent at the Metro Club and Lois is undercover for the Daily Planet. And yes, there is a chicken costume involved.
