You are Clark Kent. You have just saved Metropolis from a possible disaster - revealing yourself in your blue suit for the first time - and the girl of our dreams just kissed you. You are having the best day of your life.

You are working late, by yourself, and you are listening to the radio. You hear this call for dedications on the radio (very rough draft):

Quote
And that was "Flash" by Queen dedicated to Metropolis's new savior from the guys down at City Hall. I don't know if the man in blue... and red... and with the big 'S' on his chest would like to be compared to a football hero, but what the hey. I also played "Blue Suede Shoes" dedicated by Perry. Yo, Perry, I'm looking at the LNN footage and, sorry, dude, he's wearing red boots. Only the suit was blue. And then finally "These Boots were Made for Walking" dedicated by Cat. Um... Cat, I'm thinking those boots were made for Flying! What's with the shoe references, tonight? Do we have a new foot fetish epidemic in Metropolis? Anyway, this is Lenny Stokes, the Soundman, coming to you from KMET - all rock, all the time. We're taking dedications all night long for our new superhero. 'Let's see if we can get that man to dance!' say the ladies down at the Apricot Diner on Third who have dedicated this oldie from KC and The Sunshine Band, "Get Down Tonight."
So, post your dedication to ol' Superman. I'm looking for something that would make staid, reserved CK dance (I'm picturing 'Footloose' type dancing here - all out dancing because life is just too good). It doesn't have to be rock-n-roll, but its got to have a beat. 1950's through summer of 1994, preferred. Thank you. And your dedication may show up in a future chapter of Green-Eyed Monster.

I can see Clark dancing to 80's disco with pleasure... but as for a dedication? I don't know... Superman fits in my head with strong hard rock anthems, like "We Will Rock You" or something along those lines.

How about Tina Turner's "Simply The Best", for obvious reasons?

Well, 'Footloose' did give us Holding Out for a Hero... wink

Not sure what else to suggest; when I think dancing, I think techno, and somehow I don't think that's what you're looking for. blush

Techno's probably closer to what Virginia wants than what I think of with dancing -- specifically, Scottish Country Dancing.

To me, the classic makes-me-want-to-dance rock song is Crocodile Rock. But that doesn't relate to Superman in any way. The songs I can think of that might remotely apply to Superman aren't dance songs. huh Guess I'm not much help here. Sorry.

I thought of "New Kid in Town," but it's an oldie and not necessarily very dance-worthy.

BTW, the Metropolis station will be WMET, not KMET. In the U.S., all radio stations east of the Mississippi River start with W (for Washington, I was told), and those west of it start with K (for Kansas, supposedly). Just FYI.

Something by a singer who is also known for dancing? Maybe Michael Jackson?

I'm willing to consider country, but as I'm not a Country fan I'm really not familiar with the genre. I'd love some suggestions.

I love OLDIES! dance So, send along any oldies suggestions (also, oldies aren't that old for Clark who would have grown up with 70s & 80s music).

I wasn't quite sure on the K vs. W and hadn't had a chance to research it. Thanks for the info. I did mention, 'very rough draft' didn't I? blush

Following up on that logic... How about something by the band 'Kansas'? Maybe 'Love and Miracles Out of Nowhere'? Some of the lyrics are very apropos of Clark; others, not so much. Some of the more appropriate ones are:

Quote
It's so simple lying right before your eyes
If you'll only look through this disguise
It's always here, it's always there
It's just love and miracles out of nowhere

No worries. Just thought it might be useful to know if you do decide to use it for your story. Hope you don't mind me beta-reading your posts. blush

I'll have to think about songs, but I thought I'd leave this here for you all. Clark is really enjoying all of your dedications...

Cape Fetish, when I see Clark enjoying himself so much (even while disarming bombs), I can't help but smile. Thanks for sharing that with us.

What about "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen?

Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real good time
I feel alive and the world I'll turn it inside out - yeah
And floating around in ecstasy
So don't stop me now don't stop me
'Cause I'm having a good time having a good time

I'm a shooting star leaping through the sky
Like a tiger defying the laws of gravity
I'm a racing car passing by like Lady Godiva
I'm gonna go go go
There's no stopping me

I'm burnin' through the sky yeah
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm trav'ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don't stop me now I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball
Don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time just give me a call
Don't stop me now ('Cause I'm having a good time)
Don't stop me now (Yes I'm havin' a good time)
I don't want to stop at all

Yeah, I'm a rocket ship on my way to Mars
On a collision course
I am a satellite I'm out of control
I am a sex machine ready to reload
Like an atom bomb about to
Oh oh oh oh oh explode

I'm burnin' through the sky yeah
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm trav'ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic woman of you

Don't stop me don't stop me
Don't stop me hey hey hey
Don't stop me don't stop me
Ooh ooh ooh, I like it
Don't stop me don't stop me
Have a good time good time
Don't stop me don't stop me ah
Oh yeah
Alright

Oh, I'm burnin' through the sky yeah
Two hundred degrees
That's why they call me Mister Fahrenheit
I'm trav'ling at the speed of light
I wanna make a supersonic man out of you

Don't stop me now I'm having such a good time
I'm having a ball
Don't stop me now
If you wanna have a good time (wooh)
Just give me a call (alright)
Don't stop me now ('Cause I'm having a good time - yeah yeah)
Don't stop me now (Yes I'm havin' a good time)
I don't want to stop at all
La da da da daah
Da da da haa
Ha da da ha ha haaa
Ha da daa ha da da aaa
Ooh ooh ooh

I guess, great minds think alike. Actually, I was listening to Queen when I got this idea (CK dancing), but I seemed to miss this one. I'll have to re-check it out. Thanks for the recommendation!

As I am still writing and if you have any ideas for a good romantic song that would describe their (Superman and Lois) relationship, please feel free to pass it along. Thanks. laugh

'I go to Extremes' by Billy Joel for Clark--esp pre-revelation...

As for a romantic song (and post-rev), I really love "It is you I have loved" from Shrek by Dana Glover.

Reach for the moon, for even if you fail, you'll still land among the stars... and who knows? Maybe you'll meet Superman along the way. wink

Happy: I was just review the old posts and even though this song (great oldie by the Eagles) wasn't very rockin' dance worthy, I think it still my garner a mention in my story for this new scene I'm thinking of. clap Anyway, here's my belated 'Thanks.'
