Quote 1:
"It is relatively well known that you are a friend of
Superman's, and well, we're hoping that you'd be able to contact
him for us."

Quote 2:
Lois rolled her eyes. "Why do you go along with her flirting?
One of these days some guy's gonna take her seriously and she'll
have to fight him off."

Quote 3:
"That you're dating me?" I asked quietly. Surely he saw the
problem. I mean who would want their son to date someone whose
mother was a drunk?

Quote 4:
Maybe the apartment would be big enough for a decent couch or a
fouton or at least have clean carpet so I would have some place
to sleep. Or maybe we'd have room for an air mattress.

Quote 5:
Clark shook his head. "We weren't there when he was deciding who
to send out to cover for Cat. I guess Ralph covered one of these
things last year and Perry ended up having to bail him out of
jail?"

Quote 6:
He sets his packages on a bench and bends down to retie his
shoe. "Do you think it'll work? You're the best at undercover
work; I don't want to blow it."

Quote 7:
"I especially enjoy vacations and temporary derailment of my
plans when I find a mechanic who almost assuredly has some sort
of smuggling ring running through his garage."

Quote 8:
The lunch wasn't anything to get excited over, but it was all
right, Marta supposed. It was some sort of casserole with green
beans and a limp green salad.

Quote 9:
"Thanks for that info," Clark said, as he again started with a
slight limping motion toward the teleporter concealed within the
Editor in Chief's back office.

Excerpt 1:
"You don't have to try. This program has been such a big
presence in the world for so long, I'm glad that I can help,"
explained Clark, humbly. "Just keep the show going for the future
children and that will be thanks enough. But if you don't mind, I
do actually need to be going."

Excerpt 2:
He leaned his hands on the bar and exhaled sharply. All the good
humor left his face for a moment. "I'm a healthy young man who's
been at sea between here and various points in Africa and Asia
for almost seven months on a tramp freighter where the only thing
female was the second mate's pet monkey and I got zero shore
leave. How do you think I feel about 'em?"

Excerpt 3:
"The secret. Whatever it is. It's not the secret that's
important, Lois." He sat up on the couch, but stared at his hands
rather than me. "It's the fact that you thought there was
something you could share with Clark and not with me. What does
that say about our marriage? Or your partnership with Clark?"

Excerpt 4
"Well, I do have a son. I've obviously had sex before." I
couldn't tell him why I'd done the things I'd done -- because I
loved him and if that was the only opportunity to be with him
like that, then I was going to make the most of it. No matter how
hard I'd tried to protect my heart from falling head over heels
in love with him, I had.

Excerpt 5:
Lois opened her mouth then closed it again with a snap. In the
corner of her eye she could see Clark grinning and shaking as
though trying to stifle a laugh. Lois was not amused. She was
here on Perry's orders to get some background color on this
blasted conference, not to be laughed at - especially not over
something as serious as Superman.

Excerpt 6:
Although it strikes me odd that Lex hasn't bugged his place
after all the trouble Clark has caused, I'm not about to look a
gift horse in the mouth. I breathe a sigh of relief and slide my
scanner back into the lining of my hand-bag. Once done, I turn to
look around the apartment and drink it in.

Excerpt 7:
"Clark, you explicitly told me last week that I was to never
speak the name of your new partner again, among other things. I
am following your rules, despite that going against everything I
believe in. But I want to see progress on that other story, and I
somehow doubt you're doing that much on it after hours,
especially given your love affair with tights."

Excerpt 8:
"Me, either," Allynda said. "That's my next class, too. I heard
a rumor that they've got a Judo teacher, and sometime this year
we'll all get six weeks instruction in it. I always wondered what
it would be like to try something different from karate, just to
see what it's like."

Excerpt 9:
In attempting to escape his arrest, Lex and his close associates
produced hand weapons and proceeded to battle with the police.
During the following lethal fracas, Lex Luthor was mortally
wounded. His last words were, "Lois, I'm sorry my plans for you
didn't pan out. It would have been so much fun breaking your
will. You would have been a great show piece for my affairs, like
an ancient porcelain doll on a pedestal."

Have fun! smile
