Hey FoLCs! Time to get the ball rolling on the 2010 Kerth Awards. The Kerth committee for 2010 is Annette Ciotola, Elena, Tricia Walpole, LabRat and Karen, but we couldn’t do it without all the FoLCs who dedicate their time and energy to making this ceremony even more fun: the new quiz team composed of Jenn (EditorJax), Erin, Carol (carolm) and Tricia Walpole. A big thank you to Lisa and Lara who retired from the quiz team this year! (Tricia, Elena, Annette, LabRat and Karen)

Thanks, evryone, for all the work you are about to do for the Kerths. It's always an interesting time. Love the quizzes too. Although I may not enter them all, I get a kick out of them. A question: I notice there's not a category for Best Long fic (over 200k). Is the assumption then that Best Drama is confined to long fics then? (or is it just too early in the morning and I've missed something? ) Now's a good time, too, to thank all the authors of this past year, too, for the pleasure you've given. Looking forward to it all. (forget the Olympics!!!) c.

Hey Carol! No, there hasn't been a separate category for the >200kb fics in ages. Best Drama isn't confined to the long fics. It's just, they offer the most drama so they tend to get nominated the most Michael

To avoid the confusion of two years ago... [And not to get in the massive argument over how to define midnight /sigh/ from last year...] Does voting end at Saturday night/Sunday morning midnight or Sunday night/Monday morning midnight - like 23:59:59 Sunday? I am fairly certain that's what was determined last year and what it was supposed to have been the year before but the votes page disappeared at 23:59:59 Saturday instead... :p Thanks Tricia .

Thanks, Michael for the reply. I'd forgotten that there was no Long Fic cat last year. It stikes me theres's be a fair number of 200k fics this past year, and so I'm wondering if it would be reasonable to reinstitute it. It takes a substantial effort to produce a long fic, and it would be great to see authors of those fics recognised in a separate category.

You've had me counting them There should be 18 this year. Last year there have been 11. Yeah, reviving the Long Story category does sound like a good idea Michael

Hey Carol! The time is definitely - Sunday night/Monday morning midnight - like 23:59:59 Sunday. This year there are approximately 118 stories eligible for the Kerth awards. As you can see the number is down on previous years. Unfortunately, K-Com won’t be adding a new category. When the nominations are in we may have to delete a category, especially if the same stories are nominated in several categories. Long stories are eligible for several categories – Drama, Elseworlds, Relationship, Episode Related, Revelation, Comedy and of course Best Overall. I hope everyone can see our point of view. Tricia

I'm eagerly awaiting the list of eligible fics. Also, thanks so much for doing the work of making the Kerth Awards happen!

Nominations will run from Saturday, February 27 to Sunday, March 14, midnight EST. The official ballot will be released two weeks at most after all the nominations are in. Glad to hear the Kerths are on schedule! Sunday, March 14 is the beginning of Daylight Savings Time in the US, so we get an extra hour. When I get back to my home machine, I'll get time zones for all. regards Artemis This says 12a.m., but it is actally labelled midnight on the pull down menu. http://www.worldtimezone.com/time/i...10182&calldate=03-14-2010&hournr
