What are some songs that include flying? Wind Beneath My Wings is OUT. I'd like something more along the lines of "I believe I can fly... I believe I can touch the sky...", but that's a bit too late [though I am perfectly willing to have it released earlier in this particular universe if I can't find anything else]. I am woefully ignorant of music [just ask Kaylle - I went through the music vids on Annette's site and knew far less artists/songs than I should have] and am open to suggestions. TIA . Carol

Two come to mind:
Flying Without Wings, by Ruben Studdard
Fly, by Celine Dion
Clark: "You don't even know the meaning of the word 'humility,' do you?"
Lois: "Never had a need to find out its meaning."
"Curiosity... The Continuing Saga"

I googled "flying lyrics" and came up with a ton of songs. What time frame are you looking for, Carol? 1993 - 1997?

Looking for late 80s probably. Something that Clark might sing in the shower. Hence, at least the chorus of, I believe I can fly. I googled flying lyrics too and came up with things about time flying and kids flying away etc. but nothing that worked [that I knew anyway but I didn't know most of them]. Thanks guys . Anyone else? Carol Edit: It doesn't have to be a late 80s song - could be Elvis for all I care, just something out by late 80s that wouldn't be too obscure. I can always say that I believe I can fly came out in the 80s in this universe if I need to, but...

How about 'Learning to Fly' by Tom Petty? It came out in '91, but you can fudge a little.

What about the song "Flying" by the Nice Little Penguins. I absolutely love that song. I think it was about a penguin who flies for the very first time in his life. Okay, I know that penguins can't fly, but this is still a very nice idea..
Flying
Here I am, I'm on my own For the first time, really on my own So will I make it, will it work all right Can I make it through the night
And I go...
OOoooohh..... OOoooohh..... OOoooohh..... I am flying In open space
Look at me I’m riding high I'm the air born master of the sky And everything beneeth me seems to fade without a trace without a shape
And I go
OOoooohh..... OOoooohh..... OOoooohh..... I m flying In open space
And everything beneeth me seems to fade without a trace without a shape
And I go
OOoooohh..... OOoooohh..... OOoooohh..... I m flying In open space
It's never too dark to be cool.

/me shakes head sadly - really should make sure Anna takes her meds Those little green pills? I went off those a few weeks ago. That's how I ended up writing 10 pages of fic and making 80ish icons in the last couple weeks. Don't make me take the pills! The first one just might work...
/me tries to envision Clark floating on the shower singing [more than slightly off key]: Believe ir not I'm walking on aaaaair... I heard that on the radio yesterday, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I sang at the top of my lungs. I never saw the show, so I'm not sure how I know every word to the theme song, but it's a fun song to sing loud and off key. ~Anna

When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.

Hmm ... this is most probably not what you're looking for, but I thought I'll mention it nevertheless "Fly on the wings of love" The Olsen Brothers . In the summer night When the moon shines bright Feeling love forever And the heat is on When the daylight is gone Still - happy together There is just one more thing I would like to add She is the greatest love I've ever had Fly on the wings of love Fly baby fly Reaching the stars above Touching the sky And as time goes by There is a lot to try And I'm feeling lucky In the softest sand Smiling hand in hand Love is all around me There's just one more thing I would like to add She is the greatest love I've ever had Fly on the wings of love Fly baby fly Reaching the stars above Touching the sky
"Superman is what I can do. Clark is who I am."

It's not what you're looking for, but all I can think of is "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Let me sleep on it.

That's funny. I was about to say the same thing.
The theme to Greatest American Hero was on the radio about then (maybe before). "Looky what's happened to me. I can't believe it myself. Suddenly I'm up on top of the world. It should have been somebody else. Believe it or not, I'm walking on air. I never thought I could feel so free. Flying away on a wing and a prayer. Who could it be? Believe it or not it's just me."
BTW, Elisabeth came to ask me the question, but before she could ask I started singing to myself. "Would you like to Swing on a Star?"

Fly Like And Eagle, Steve Miller Band ?
Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future
I want to fly like an eagle To the sea Fly like an eagle Let my spirit carry me I want to fly like an eagle Till Im free Oh, lord, through the revolution
Feed the babies Who dont have enough to eat Shoe the children With no shoes on their feet House the people Livin in the street Oh, oh, theres a solution
I want to fly like an eagle To the sea Fly like an eagle Let my spirit carry me I want to fly like an eagle Till Im free Fly through the revolution
Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future
I want to fly like an eagle To the sea Fly like an eagle Let my spirit carry me I want to fly like an eagle Till Im free Fly through the revolution
Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future Time keeps on slippin, slippin, slippin Into the future
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, The courage to change the things I can, And the wisdom to know the difference.
