If I recall correctly in the series Clark's memory is NOT effected by Kryptonite.

His amazing recall is part of who he is and not a "superpower". What we call photographic or eidetic memory.

But Clark also has a perfect memory for sounds, one of the reasons he can learn so many languages. Anyone know what that is called?

To the main point can anyone recall a L&C episode that conflicts with this belief? Where his memory is reduced to normal by kryptonite?

Wow, Patrick! Imagine having that sort of memory. Then again, I don't know - I wouldn't want to remember every time I was bored, or angry, or sad, or tired, or had a headache!

And I don't know what a perfect memory for sound is called, no. If I ever heard the name for it, I have certainly forgotten!

A quick check of the Internet indicates that eidetic memory also covers sound.

I always thought that his facility for languages was in part due to his unconscious telepathic abilities, at least in L&C...

Eidetic memory works, but there is also absolute or perfect pitch .

I never thought about attributing his language skills to sound memory. (but it's very reasonable). A total recall of every word, coupled with the ability process a book in seconds should go a long way into learning new languages.
