This is the first time I've ever posted to ask questions about a story I'm writing (or attempting to write). So, please throw comments, suggestions, rotten tomatoes... Anything you think will help.

The basic premise is that Clark goes off to NK. (There's a lot of back story first, but the part I'm having trouble with is after.) I am going to write two different endings to the same story. (Hopefully I'll have someone who actually wants to read it!) Anyway, I know how I want one ending to go. It's the other I'm having trouble with.

First, when he comes home, Lois has had his child. (Hard to believe I'd write a story with a kid, huh? laugh ) I have notes that have him coming home after nearly two years, the child turning 1. Then I have a bunch of another version down with the child being nearly 6 (I think), so he's been gone a lot, lot longer. Which would you rather read? Short time gone- toddler at home? Or long time gone- big boy at home? Or should I just say the heck with it and not write anything? evil

SQD (who would be tickled if someone actually responds to this)

SQD, I like the shorter time version. I like the 'he came back, the child is young and they go on with their lives'. When he is gone 5-6 years, I almost think Lois should have moved on by then. A person can change a lot in 5-6 years, and with possible anger issues on Lois' side, they might not be able to move on. That's just the way I feel.

Sue, Andreia,

Thanks for such a quick reply! The FOLC's on this board never cease to amaze me! clap Not quite a 'been gone the whole time' kind of story, but... Let's save that one for another time! evil )

Ee! I love your stories! I know you already decided, but I just thought I'd throw in my two cents and say I agree with everyone about having him return to a toddler. But I'd really love to read about him having a six year old too, so if you're not too burned out, please try and write that one too!

Laura,

Thanks for throwing in your two cents, too! Heck, any suggestions would be good. Keep 'em coming. I'm not burned out, and I'll probably be writing all kinds of stuff soon.

Yes, me, too, Squid! I'd love to read a new story from you, and I would love to see the toddler story. On the other hand, it would be great to see him return to a six-year-old kid, too - sort of like a version of Superman Returns (to Jason)!
