Hey there, FoLCs! Some of you may have remembered, from previous Kerth Committee announcements, that Kerth nominations should have opened yesterday. All we can say is...oops. Technical glitches and Real Life meddled with our schedule just a little. However, we're delighted to announce that nominations are now definitely open. Go here to nominate the stories you think were best in their category this year. Remember that you don't have to nominate in every category, although we'll be very happy if you do, and also remember you can nominate more than one story per category. So go on, have a go, even if you've never nominated before. The more you participate in the process, the more fun you'll have at the ceremony. Nominations will be open for two weeks, until 4 March. You can learn more about the Kerths at the Kerths Website. Kerth Committee

I'm sorry I don't remember. Eligeble stories are those uploaded on the archive between ? -? How do I know which authors qualify as new? I also wondered about this: These awards are supposed to focus on the individual stories, not the authors. So, please go with the stories that you honestly feel are the best, regardless of who wrote them. What exactly is the best? Last year I went with most enjoyable, which not necessarily is the same as the most wellwritten for example.

How do I know which authors qualify as new? Go to the Kerth website. Click on "The Kerth Awards" link. Click on "Eligible Stories" and scroll down. You'll find all eligible new authors for 2006 listed there. Can't help you with the other question - you just have to vote the way you see fit. That's what the rest of us do. (When we aren't using our pins, of course. ) LabRat
Athos: If you'd told us what you were doing, we might have been able to plan this properly. Aramis: Yes, sorry. Athos: No, no, by all means, let's keep things suicidal.

This is my first time doing this so please be patient. How many are we allowed to nominate for each category?

Thanks Labrat. I didn't find it in the FAQ,(except uploaded during the calender year.) I've should have checked the dropdown menus on the frontpage.

JoJo, I think you can nominate as many as you want. For example I nominated four for one category, so don't feel like you have to be too picky with your nominations.
I think, therefore, I get bananas.
When in doubt, think about time travel conundrums. You'll confuse yourself so you can forget what you were in doubt about.

OK, what am I doing wrong? I don't get an open nomination page. It says to come back after Feb. 17th.

Mozilla Firefox just won't let me on. But IE did. Well, I nominated, so it's OK.

How long are the nominations open?
And can I nominate again (I forgot about the eligible story list when I was nominating so I didn't know which were eligible)?
EDIT: I read the FAQ, so I know the approximate length of the nomination period. As for renominating, I read about "ballot-stuffing" andd was wondering if I could cancel out my first one, and then do a new one?

Woody, if you forgot one story, send your extra nom to Yvonne and me (our email addresses are in our profile), making sure you tell us that it's an addendum. Be sure to also include the email address you used to submit your nominations. Kaethel (who apologises for her absense this weekend - stuck in bed with a cold/flu/sore throat)

What do you do about the short-ish stories which are still only on the mbs or on other sites and thus don't have a size listing? The categories they'd best fit in are size-limited, and I don't want to nominate them for the wrong size category . . .

Well, it's probably more than one story, but I'll do that.

I swear it needs to be a weekend activity so I can sit down and really look at the list. Every year I tell myself I'm going to be one of those pro-actives who have Kerth folders to remind themselves of stories they really liked over the year...Yeah I think I tried that in '04 perhaps and it lasted a month <g>.
