Many moons ago, over at Annesplace , the fantastic idea of interviewing FoLCdom's authors about their stories and how they'd become involved with LNC and writing was introduced to FoLCdom. The result was the wonderfully fascinating Writers\' Showcase Collection . Recently, the Showcase Team got an email or two requesting new interviews with a couple of our most recent authors. And that, of course, led us to realise how long it had been since the last interview was uploaded! A tradition well due for a revival, wouldn't you say? Especially since we've had a huge influx of great and talented authors into the fandom, since then. So, we worked back through the boards and made up a list of candidates (70!) and we tweaked and updated the interview form. Here are the current questions: How long have you been watching/how did you become interested in L&C?
How long have you been a fan of/enjoyed other versions of the Superman myth? How long have you been writing? Have you written for other fandoms? Other genres? How long have you been writing L&C fanfic? Which genres of fanfic have you written?
What's your most recent story?
What's your personal favourite of the stories you have written? And why?
Give us a peek into your current Works In Progress?
Personal picks of other fanfics you have read?
What attracted you to writing fanfic and what about it do you enjoy?
What is it about L&C universe/characters that you enjoy exploring the most? How do you interpret them in your work? How did you begin writing in general? What is your opinion about the following LNC fanfic genres:
Action? Drama?
Humor? Round Robin/Co-Authored? Nfic?
Has *everything* been done in your opinion, and if not, what is left? What do you think makes the best story? Where is the best place for a reader to locate your work? Open Forum For General Comments Now, here's where you readers come in. We're looking for suggestions for other questions to add to these. Is there something you've always wanted to ask your favourite authors? Now's your chance! We should note that we can't guarantee we'll use all suggestions made. Obviously, we don't want the interview form to become so long or deep that we frighten off authors! <g> But we'll see how many we get and take it from there. So...over to you! Remember to keep your suggestions general and not specific to any particular author and try to phrase them as concisely as possible for the purposes of the interview form. Good question, Miranda! Me, I've never really understood this one: How do you interpret them in your work? What does that mean? Also, I've never thought this was a slightly odd question: What is your opinion about the following LNC fanfic genres: My opinion? Is this asking whether I like them or not? Whether I approve of them or not? Also, hardly anyone writes a pure action fic, so why is that listed as a genre? How about: Do you use beta readers and if so, why? Where do your story ideas spring from? Yvonne

Good suggestions so far. Definitely worth considering. How do you interpret them in your work? I've always taken this to mean how do you envisage the characters and use them in your stories? Which qualities do you bring out most when writing them? Do you see Lois as courageous, determined, reckless...? Do you see Clark as vulnerable or invincible? Although there is a broad concensus of the characters in the fandom, we don't all see them exactly the same way. I think the question just aims to find out how a particular author views them and their important traits, strengths, negative and positive qualities etc. My opinion? Is this asking whether I like them or not? Whether I approve of them or not? Does it appeal to your personal reading tastes? Is it a genre you'd read and enjoy or not? Or are there some genres you'd not enjoy and don't read? That seems to be how most of the authors have answered this one over the years. Also, hardly anyone writes a pure action fic, so why is that listed as a genre? Well, the form was originally set up many years ago now. It may be that there were more of them around at the time. Maybe we need to redraft this section entirely though. Now that you mention it, it strikes me as being a little limited. What about Next Gen, for example? Bplots? Aplots? So if anyone has suggestions for types or genres of LNC fic they'd like to see included, please do add them in. I'm sure there are many more genres to be explored than just the current few. Also, if you have suggestions for rewording any of the questions, do let us know. Nothing's set in stone at this point. And we may as well do it comprehensively if we're giving it its first makeover in...more than a few...years. LabRat

Suggestions:
What was the first episode you saw. ( I guess that not everyone started with the Pilot including me)
What do you love about the series?
Favorite supporting character?
Favorite Villain?
It's never too dark to be cool.

What was the episode (either entire or in part) that made you love the show? This kind of ties in with the first question on Labby's list (how long have you been watching/how did you become interested) but I would love to hear if there was a specific moment that hooked someone.
Also, what was the episode (either entire or in part) that made you want to write L & C fanfic? For some the answer may be the same as the above, but others may loved the show first and then got inspired to write later.

This project kind of went on hiatus due to my toothache/lack of sleep problems lately. But I'm getting on with it now that the evil tooth from hell has been removed and I'm back to being entirely compost mental (as Stuart would have it) again. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I've incorporated most of them into the form and am now working on sending it out to the authors. LabRat

I just thought of another question I'd want to ask my favourite author: When are you going to write your next story? Yvonne

Can you ask yourself the same question? When is Yvonne going to write her next story? Inquiring minds want to know...
Lois: You know, I have a funny feeling that you didn't tell me your biggest secret.
Clark: Well, just to put your little mind at ease, Lois, you're right. Ides of Metropolis

Awww, thanks, Sue. I'm writing a self-indulgent wallow of unimaginable misery and angst at the moment. When I've finished wallowing, I may post it - depends whether I think it actually constitutes a decent story or not. Yvonne

A self-indulgent wallow of unimaginable misery and angst... Leave out 'self-indulgent', and doesn't the rest describe any of the brilliant Yvonne stories out there? Wendy
