In the states, if someone asks you how you are doing, you might respond with...

"So so."

How would you say that in German? Is that a purely American responce?

I tried Babelfish and all I get back is "So so." If that is correct then I want something else that will convey the same thing, but not look so English.

And is

Vorsichtig, ist Ihr Bein, sowie eine Rippe, ich denken gebrochen.

the proper translation for

Careful, your leg is broken, as well as a rib, I think.

This is a close translation (although it sounds off):

Vorsichtig, Ihr Bein ist gebrochen, sowie eine Rippe, denke ich.

The following sounds more natural:

Vorsicht, Ihr Bein ist gebrochen, eine Rippe wahrscheinlich auch.

An alternative to "so so" might be "geht so".

Thank you kindly for your input! I really like the second way of saying "Caution, your leg is broken, a rib probably also."

And it is always nice to bring some lurkers out of the background. laugh

:later:

I put "geht so" into Babelfish and got back "goes in such a way" Some how I don't think that is what you meant.

You would answer "(Es)geht so" if you are not feeling great or very well, but on the other hand not really bad either. It's something in between, like when you had an exhausting workig day and you are in need of a relaxing evening.
Usually the other person will ask you then, what's bothering you.

I believe "so so" means something in that context?
