Okay, here's a question for you all.

What is the past tense form of the verb to glide?

Because when I write this:

The girl glided down the staircase, her feet barely hitting each step.

...it looks really weird to me. Is this correct? Does it look strange to anyone else? I know glid is not a real word (as in, the past tense form of to hide is hid), but I cannot figure out what else to use.

Glided looks fine to me. Or it did until you focused me on it. Odd, how that works, isn't it? The more you look at these things, the odder they seem. goofy
