Yes, this question will be as strange as the subject sounds.

Can anyone offer me any good quotes or songtitles dealing with weather? Rain, snow, storms, sunshine, etc, doesn't matter. I am looking for anything related to weather.

This really is important for a potential fic (or series of fics) that I will be writing. The more titles I get, the more fics I might be writing. If my muse ever gets her tushie in gear! laugh

"Time to spare, go by air."

That's my mom's favorite weather quote because flying, especially in small planes, is so dependant on the weather and when I was a kid, we often ended up sleeping in small airports in isolated communities because we would get weathered in.

Hope that is of some help.

enya - a day without rain
like the deserts miss the rain
any way the wind blows
going where the wind blows
over the rainbow
rock you like a hurricane
total eclipse of the heart (does that count?)

the lyrics to "i can see clearly now" include the lines "the rain is gone" and "bright sunshiny day"

"sunny days, wishing those clouds away, on my way to wear the air is clean..." - the sesame street theme song

the post office motto (which was taken from the pony express which was taken from the ancient greeks) should have been "Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat nor gloom of night stays these Couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds" but "heat" was misunderheard, and so "sleet" was accidentally substituted.

"the rain in spain falls mainly on the plain"

"snow day!"

"under a dark cloud"

"under the weather"

When in doubt, think about penguins. It probably won't help, but at least it'll be fun.

And also, there's
'Walking on Sunshine' by Jennifer Lopez
'Come Rain or Come Shine' by Julie Andrews
'The Rain in Spain' From My Fair Lady

Here are some sayings I can think of...

- Red sky at night shepherd's delight, red sky in the morning shepherd's warning.
(some people say sailor instead of shepherd)

- The north wind will blow and we shall have snow.
I have a hunch that that's a line from a longer saying)

- Ne'er cast a clout 'till May be out.
(There's a big debate about what this actually refers to... but basically it means, wrap up warm until the end of May/or until the May blossom is out)

- Raining cats and dogs.

- One swallow doesn't make a summer.

- March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.

- March winds and April showers bring forth May flowers.

I didn't know I knew so many!

I'm not getting so much inspiration from song titles though...

Hope that helps,

Helga

I googled 'weather quotes' and came up with these:

Rainbows apologize for angry skies.

There is no season such delight can bring
As summer, autumn, winter and the spring.

Don't knock the weather; nine-tenths of the people couldn't start a conversation if it didn't change once in a while.

Anyone who says sunshine brings happiness has never danced in the rain.

(And for some odd reason, I really like this next one):
Weather forecast for tonight:  dark.

Hmm, songs... Sunrise by Norah Jones
Soak Up the Sun by Sheryl Crow
Sorry, I can't think of anymore!

Only songs in English:

'Wind Of Change' - Scorpions (not exactly
weather-related, but it has the word 'wind' in it)
'November Rain' - Guns N' Roses
'Staring At The Sun' - Offspring (Americana album)
'Sunshine' - Five (Invincible album)
'Feel The Sun' - Melanice C (Northern Star album)

Couldn't search for inside lyrics, sorry.

See ya,

I Think It's Going To Rain Today - Bette Midler - Beaches
Rainbow Connection - Muppets - Muppet Movie laugh
Drops of Jupiter - Train (not exactly weather, but it had drops in it)
Snow - Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen's voice double - White Christmas
A few songs from Trans-Siberian Orchestra's christmas albums: Appalacian Snowfall, First Snow, The Snow Came Down
Let The Sun Shine In/Aquarius (I think my playlist has the song title/artist wrong)
Reel Around the Sun - Riverdance
Walking on the Sun - Smash Mouth
The Sun is a Mass of Incandescent Gas - They Might Be Giants
The Thunder Rolls - Garth Brooks

I can't think of any other words to search my playlist with, but I hope this helps

Those are two different songs. But that's not the point. smile It is from the musical Hair (I would know, that was our school production this year wink ).

"...raindrops are fallin' on my head..."

I don't know the song title. I know many people have redone that song, but when I hear it I can only think of a singer for children that I used to listen to in the late 70s or early 80s.

I've converted to lurk-ism... hopefully only temporary.

Lyrics

Do you know the most surprising thing about divorce? It doesn't actually kill you, like a bullet to the heart or a head-on car wreck. It should. When someone you've promised to cherish till death do you part says, "I never loved you," it should kill you instantly.

Hard to believe that everybody missed this one: "Rainy Days and Mondays" by The Carpenters,

Then there is always "Blue Skys" & "It Never Rains But it Pours" which are old standards from the 30/40's era sung by a variety of artists.

All the other ones I could think of were already mentioned... I actually didn't think I could name one that HADN"T been named already wink

S (who is please that some of her favorites were already listed smile1 0
