I'm worried about Shrimp's family! I'm really hoping that the Underground found them before the Jils could. I'm also hoping that the Underground is looking for this psychic pair!

How closely linked are they, anyway? Is it true that killing one will kill the other? Can they break this link, and do they want to?

In the Terran Underground universe, psychic links like these are always unbreakable except by the death of one of the pair.

When Alan Westover told Jason that Jason being killed would kill Trevor, he was exaggerating a little, but he was trying to save the lives of a lot of people.

If Jason were to die, it would affect Trevor severely, although it wouldn't kill him. He would only wish it had.

In The Crystal Demon, you encounter a patrolman (Base Commander Parnell) who was unknowingly a power pack for a psychic, who was his wife. When she was killed he never completely got over it. The only thing that helped him recover is the story: "Hunting Party" where he finally meets another psychic who becomes his partner. Hopefully I'll be able to edit and post that one eventually.

I thought it was a bad thing to kill a Jil. Don't the other Jils come along and do some ten-for-one revenge killing?

Usually it winds up some kind of family revenge vendetta. Alan, for instance, has about a thousand Jils after his scalp. <g>

Oh noes! There's a Jil! Oh, wait, he's dead -- and for a change, Alan didn't do it! But Jason's unconscious and Mark is missing... Oh noes!!!!

Translation: Great part, although it's frustrating not to be able to see any of the action directly. Maybe in the next section?

And for the record, I always liked Lyn's dad (the bit where he gets rescued by his enemies is fun), so I'd like to read the rest of his story.

Plus, a lot of the later stories reference things that happened in stories you haven't posted yet, so it's good to fill in those gaps for us!

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I intended to post the next part this week but my edited version vanished with a hard drive crash this morning <sigh>. I have the un-edited version on my external drive, so all is not lost, but I'm going to have to re-edit the next part before posting. Hopefully it won't be too long.
