Sun & Steel

Golden sunlight flows across cold steel,
surging like a flood of molten fire
over a towering stairway that might have belonged to a giant.
Scintillating rays dazzle and glow,
igniting glass and steel in an inferno
that lasts for an infinite moment.
Gray morning haze creeps across the sky
like a cat stalking its prey,
shrouding the sun with a cloudy veil.
As the traffic light’s emerald eye winks,
cars stream into asphalt rivers,
moving on to more mundane places.

I believe there's a hero in all of us that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most. Even our dreams. -- Aunt May, Spider-Man 2
