What if Lois was a cop, a detective (She could even work with Henderson)? It would keep with her basic nature: tough, working in a man's world, investigating, keeping citizens safe. Then a murder occurs. Clark is in his interloper, wandering the globe phase and is in the worng place at the wrong time in his attempt to help. Of course, a strange man with no ties, who just happens to be on the scene of a crime makes for an excellent suspect. It would be an interesting dynamic. I havent quite worked out what would keep him from fleeing at this point in his life, maybe an attraction to a certain detective?

Anyways, I thought it could lead to an interesting story.

I think there was a story like that, but I can't think of the title. A story by ML Thompson, perhaps? Check the archive.
I know there was one where she had the powers.
But there is always room for new stories.
good luck

In Tank Wilson's To Protect and Serve and the follow-up To Protect and Serve II - The Return of Superman , Lois is a cop and Clark begins the stories without his powers. The first one is actually the first L&C fanfic I read on this site, and they're both outstanding tales.

Not sure if that's what you're looking for, but I recommend them anyway.

And the premise you've suggested is quite intriguing. I'll have to give it some thought.
