I get strange ideas sometimes. I was wondering how things would have unfolded if Kal-El's rocket had been found by Poison Ivy. Yes, there would have to be changes in at least one of their ages to accomadate this, but think about it. Kal-El, Superman, being raised by a die-hard feminist eco-terrorist.
That got the wheels turning for a challenge. Who else could have raised Clark, and how would things be different if they did?
Suppose Kal-El were raised by...Perry White? Same and Ellen Lane? Uncle Ben and Aunt May? The Joker---*shudders* and/or Harley Quinn? The Teenage Mutant Ni---okay, won't go there.
Please avoid Thomas and Martha Wayne, since that is, I think, a bit obvious, and has been done before.
But who else could have found the little rocket? And would Clark still be Clark, and married to Lois, if they did?

Hmmm.... I'm actually doing a beta that might fit this, but I don't know when it will be posted, and I'm not sure the author would want me to tell you who they are....

There was a fic I read once where he was raised by Lana's parents instead of the Kents, and they hid his abilities from him, so he sort of did this sleepwalking thing where he only became Superman (with a rag-tag costume) at night. Lois figured it out, told him, etc. I can't remember the name of the fic though.

Lyds wrote a wonderful take on this idea. The story's called "The Darkness Within." It's what might have happened if baby Kal-El had been found by...well, I'll let you read it for yourself and find out. - Jude

@DSDragon: The story where the Langs found the rocket was the Hysteron Proteron story: http://lcfanfic.com/stories/2001/hysteron.txt And yes, the story of Kal-El growing up as "Bruce Wayne" with super-powers was in a mini-series by DC, and it was really great. Can't remember the title, though. Another idea: What if the rocket had been found by the Amazons on Paradise Island? Queen Hippolyta might have decided to raise Kal together with her baby daughter, Diana. Imagine those two super-children playing together!

Imagine those two super-children playing together! Except that Paradise Island has that pesky law about killing any male who sets foot there, if I remember it correctly.

Well, in the second (post-crisis) incarnation of Wonderwoman, this law is never mentioned. Besides, even amazons might desire to have children - why not super-children, after all? They'd be good warrior material...

Wasn't there one incarnation of Wonder Woman where a pilot crash landed on the island?

The very one I was talking about! Post-crisis, by George Perez. Oh, and the plane was *man*ned. Literally. So, in the post-crisis DC-verse my suggestion is not quite that far-fetched.

Imagine this scenrio, boys and girls.
How about if Bill Maxwell, just out of F.B.I. school, finds the capsule?
That would place Clark at about 15 years old when the aliens give Ralph the suit.
Imagine that scenrio, campers!
